Set in the idyllic, rural hamlet of Forthay, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB in the rolling Gloucestershire countryside, Forthay is a beautiful 17th Century grade 2 listed farmhouse come B&B. Part of the Lamplugh hosting double-act at Forthay B&B, Deborah Lamplugh, as a cancer survivor, is passionate about nutrition and health combined with a love for creating new recipes. With her B&B kitchen as the test bed, Deborah trialled and refined a number of granola and muesli recipes which today has evolved into the Forthay Granola brand. The Granolas and Muesli all remain handmade-to-order for their passionate customer base.

Forthay Granola has been awarded a number of Great Taste awards and here at ArtisanBox HQ we see this as no great surprise! We’ve trialled every flavour within the Forthay Granola range and there isn’t a dud in sight with the Pecan, Pumpkin Seed & Spiced Apple Granola and the Superseed & Goji Berry Granola being honourable mentions.

But for this month our feature products are the decadent Luxury Muesli – Honey Glazed Nuts & Seeds (Great Taste * Award) with jumbo oats, seeds, coconut and a lot more creating a fantastically healthy yet tasty muesli! Our second feature from their range is the Cacao, Orange & Baobab Granola (Great Taste ** Award). Amazingly Forthay Granola found a balance in this product between a beautifully chocolatey yet still leaves you feeling healthy granola that anyone with a disposition for both will absolutely love from children to the most discerning of adults.

We just love this range of Granola/Muesli and strongly advise you to try as well! Available nationwide via forthaygranola.co.uk

Run by husband and wife team Tim and Leanne, East Coast Chilli Company is a small, family run business pumping out beautiful small batch hot sauces. Like many of us, they decided to quit the rat-race to focus on doing something they love – and this seems to be beautiful concocting hot sauces. Their product range has been born of that common artisan mix of trial, error, creativity and sheer luck.

The East Coast Chilli Company has a range of eight sauces and ketchups ranging from a sweet and mild mango and chilli through to their Extra Hot Habanero and Naga Sauce called ‘Reason’ for those of you looking to blow your socks off. They have a lovely story about their Carolina Reaper & Honey Hot Sauce – it’s named after their daughter who was born 21 minutes after midnight in the year it was launched. All products are small-batch, made by hand and use the best quality ingredients as shown by their four great taste awards to date.

Our feature product this month is their Chipotle Chilli Ketchup. A fantastic little accessible ketchup that’s sweet and smoky with a lovely warmth through on the back notes. Perfect for every-day use.

Based in Norfolk, East Coast Chilli Company features heavily in the local area at Farmers’ markets and local stockists. We have a special promotion with them at the moment – 25% off orders using the promo code ABox25. Visit www.eastcoastchillicompany.co.uk. Delivery nationwide.

Great Glen Charcuterie has a fantastic personal story behind it. Originally from the Netherlands, for the last twenty years, couple Jan Jacob and Anja Baak have made their life in Roy Bridge deep in the Glen Roy National Nature Reserve in the Scottish Highlands. When moving to Scotland they immediately fell in love with the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands - a land of plenty with ample access to world class produce and ingredients. Initially working\ on an estate, Jan Jakob had hands on experience with management of the local deer population and fell in love with the beauty of venison as an ingredient.

So, with their interest in Venison was piqued, Jan Jakob and Anja experimented over the next few years with the local meat creating and testing new recipes in their hand-built smoker in the back garden. Tried and tested on family and friends the idea of Great Glen Charcuterie was born.

Our feature product is their absolutely outstanding Venison Salami with Green Peppercorns. It's one of the best flavoured and most rounded salamis that we've eaten in recent times! Made with 100% venison and balanced with green peppercorns this salami was was awarded 3 Gold Stars and Best Charcuterie product of the UK at the Great Taste Awards in 2013. It won another 3 gold stars at the Great Taste Awards in 2017 and was awarded Best Game Product in The British Charcuterie Awards 2019.

To celebrate it's ArtisanBox feature we're offering a 10% discount on purchases over £25 via Great Glen Charcuterie. Shop online at www.greatglencharcuterie.com and use code ARTISANBOX.

STORIES FROM THE ARTISANBOX..
London Smoke and Cure is a friendly smokery based in Streatham. Established in 2015 by Ross Mitchell, the business offers a beautiful range of delicately smoked salmon, bacon, sausage and charcuterie cuts. Operating out of a former horse stable converted into a bespoke production unit, this business embodies London’s beloved heritage and tradition.

Every ingredient is sourced from local farmers operating at the highest welfare standards. The pork and beef are all supplied by Charles Ashworth, a trusted farmer in North Yorkshire who treats all his animals with the utmost care and respect.

Our featured product was the Bresaola. It's sourced from retired dairy cattle raised on good pasture and silverside muscles are then traditionally cured in salt, rosemary, garlic and citrus then matured for four months to create a rich, delicious cut perfect for accompanying deep peppery flavours and cheese. it's an absolutely gem of an eat and it's no surprise that it won a Charcuterie Board Rosette in 2022.

Sisley’s & Crellow started life in 2003 as a family-run business producing jars of local preserves from a home kitchen in Penzance. In 2012, Sisley’s Cornish Preserves joined forces with another local family business, Crellow, to become Sisley’s & Crellow. Now owned by sisters Laura and Jessica, and Jessica’s partner Jonathan, family and independence remain at the heart of their business. Chef and chieftaste tester, Laura, runs the kitchen in Portreath, cooking up a storm to create new and exciting flavour combinations. Jess and Jonny oversee everything sales and delivery to loyal customers.

Sisley’s & Crellow offers a wonderful and wide range of homemade preserves, marmalades, chutneys, mustards and sauces. Something for everybody. ou’ll find all the classics alongside modern twists such as Sweet Pickled Cucumber, Herb Garden Jelly, Blackberry Vinegar, Marrow & Ginger Preserve and the one that excites us — Orange and Whisky marmalade. Seasonal Cornish ingredients are used as much as possible, and every recipe proudly contains a high fruit and veg content. Every product is handmade, and you won’t find any artificial colours or preservatives, only traditional sugar, vinegar and spices.

This month we featured their new Smokey Chipotle Salsa - winner of a Taste of the West Gold award in 2023 no less. It’s a beautiful salsa, with just enough heat to warm on a cold winter’s night yet not overpower the sweet tomato flavour. Combine all this with a subtle smokiness makes this salsa a perfect accompaniment to corn chips or your taco night at home.

Hinxden Farm Dairy is a family affair, run for four generations by the Manfords in Benenden, Kent. Husband and wife, Richard and Dee, currently manage the farm with help from their two daughters, Rebecca and Katy. Starting with just six cows in 1930, the family now have two award-winning herds of 250 Pedigree Holstein and Guernsey cows.

Hinxden Farm has been a hidden secret within the local Kent community for years. They hand deliver their fresh dairy products to the local community within a 10-mile radius of the farm) using seven specialised refrigerated vans.

At ArtisanBox, we wanted to share their gem of a mature cheddar-style hard cheese called Tam’s Tipple — named after Thomasine (Tam) Manford, who was in the family business from 1981. Beautifully creamy from their Guernsey milk, Tam’s Tipple is lovely accompaniment to your weekend (or anyday!) cheeseboard.

Introducing Cuckfield Coffee Co, an independent coffee roastery based in West Sussex. This lovely artisan brand was founded in 2021 by Paul and Nardine, who gave up their previous full-time careers in pursuit of a delicious new adventure together.

As self-confessed ‘coffee geeks’, the pair’s passion project was born from a desire to create the best tasting coffee that doesn’t compromise on quality. With a strong focus on ethical production; flavour and sustainability are equally important and perfectly balanced. Every product is sourced from fairtrade farmers, using reputable manufacturers, diligently researched suppliers and only the highest quality coffee beans.

Paul oversees the production process, from sourcing ethically farmed beans, to roasting and blending speciality coffee. With a strong head for business, Nadia heads up daily operations and sales.

Our pick (and a customer favourite) is Wake Up, the strong dark roast to energise and refresh each morning. This espresso blend of Guatemalan and Papua New Guinean beans has a rich flavour profile of chocolate, caramel and stone fruits to start your day with a bang. It’s the most popular choice with Cuckfield’s customers and we can’t argue with them.

Based in Monmouthshire, The Crafty Pickle Co. () is the passion project of microbiologists Madi and Arthur. They met at university while studying for master’s degrees in nutrition and bonded over their shared love of sauerkraut, pickles and all things food fermentation.

Discover sauerkraut, kimchi, kimchi juices in a range of spice levels. The Mexicana Kraut was one of the ArtisanBox feature products last month. Traditional sauerkraut with jalapeño heat.

Grab a spoon and enjoy straight out of the jar, or use to liven up sandwiches, salads, cheeseboards– anything you fancy. We enjoyed it on a cheese toastie with a Gruyere and Cheddar mix -- it was absolutely divine and we cannot recommend this recipe combination enough!
