UofL Peaceful Nursing Protest

We are currently working on obtaining a permit to protest and gathering other details to make sure we can exercise our 1st amendment rights.

Many of you know about this flier and the protest scheduled for today, 4/24/23. I personally watched as two UL employees removed our signs that were left unattended while we used the restroom. No explanation given, they waited until they were unattended and took them.

They have no desire to hear our complaints. Our concerns are falling on willfully deaf ears. Their townhall meeting was nothing but smoke and mirrors, no questions were answered directly and no solutions were offered. We are asking for common sense resolutions to unsafe ratios and unfair pay. They run us barebone on the units and are saving money by not paying for more nurses, we are checking the boxes for medicaid/Medicare reimbursement with the extra charting, SEM scanners, Hourly rounding but where is the money going? Not back to us, not to hiring more nurses, not to retaining our experienced nurses, not to better equipment. We have asked them to communicate openly and honestly with us but they refuse. We are expected to just "trust them" while they receive bonuses and 6 figure incomes on our backs.

All we have asked for is basic respect. Protect our patients, communicate with us, treat us fairly, listen to our concerns and work with us to develop common sense solutions to the problems. Instead we are met with resistance, disrespect, and corporate answers.

Our CEO works with Nortons and Baptist and together they control the healthcare market in the area. They tell us they're giving fair raises based on the market, THEY CONTROL THE MARKET! They decide what fair pay is and then fall back on the expected ignorance of the average person to not know this. There are plenty more concerns we will address in the future. This page is designed to help organize a well planned protest with the right permits filed. One where no UL higher up can interfere or stop. Our voices must be heard for our patients and ourselves.
