"SHAPE SHIFTING" 2017

Painting: Oil and Charcoal on Canvas.
My paintings start as a mark on the canvas and mostly I find out what they are when I am close to finishing the piece. In this painting the shapes were all morphing somehow from angelic images, then I saw many birds. I added a beak to what I saw as an angel and imagined these 'birds' as angelic forms. Supposedly Angels have never been in a human body. I feel them as all animals - here to teach us. I want to viewer to see and feel what he does, not necessarily what I do. The style is my style. The medium is what I have on hand. The subject matter is 'the other side'.

I find the dried skins of pomegranates beautiful to work with as 'object'. I wait for autumn to admire them on the trees, eat them, make art from them...

There are many who recognize the gift to the world that every artist has to offer. There are many who endeavor to do whatever they can to ensure those gifts are received by a grateful public. I have been fortunate to share my work in galleries world wide..
To stifle the artist’s voice is to let silence win. Nature is not so silent and neither is what the artist has to offer. Art is essential. It is what fills the space in-between making sense of a chaotic universe.
