JLS Art - Perfectly Imperfect
Just a bored mom looking to add a little colour into her life. Paint pouring is super easy and there are so many different ways to do it.
Join me on my journey of creativity. :)
I will be selling some of my paintings eventually so stay tuned. :)
It's been awhile since my last post. I haven't been able to do anything creative due to health, moving homes and downsizing, and unpacking.
I lost my space for art and am still trying to find room for it in our new place.
I haven't given up, just not feeling creative right now.
I'm very seldom creative in the winter months when it's cold and grey, and the stress of the holidays, but as soon as the sun starts shining I start thinking of things to do.
For Christmas I received many gift cards and the things I ordered are arriving now. New hobbies, more painting and lots of experimentation. :D
It's been a rough winter so far so I haven't been feeling very creative, but I got some new things for Christmas to experiment with so hopefully will be posting again soon. :)
For sale!
My first try at re-purposing a table! It's not perfect, but someone may want it and I'm only asking $20 for time and materials. PM if you're interested, if not, I get an extra end table! 😁
Will deliver in Nanaimo for an extra $5; sorry, unable to ship. All sales are fcfs and cash only.
I finally finished the table! From this - to this!
It's definitely not perfect, and I still have a lot to learn, but for a first attempt I think it's pretty good! 😁
Thank you Kimberley Ferguson, I've painted the first of the skulls finally. It still needs touching up when it dries but I like it. :D
Lamp black, neon purple, neon red, and glow in the dark acrylics.
Edit: added pics under black light!
So I have been working on stripping an old table of paint, it's drying now then I'm going to sand it and then repaint it using a pour method, I hope that it works. :)
Playing with oranges, yellows and reds today. :)
Decided to play with green and because I used too much paint for the violet I went easy with it, too easy. 😂 So instead of mixing more up I just used white for a base which makes the colour pop more. :)
Playing with Violets today.
Playing with blues today. No silicone, cells created by metallic and interference blue. Poured paint through a sieve, stretched it, then ran a marble through it.
Not all art attempts work and I hate wasting paint but s**t happens. :) This was more experimentation this time using Folk Art acrylics, Flash and Glaze.
I tried something new today. I don't have the amazing pigments or inks that some artists have so I had to improvise and make do with what I have and I'm pretty happy with the result. :)
This one is a hairdryer blow-out with darker colours on a white base.
Tried a spin today using complimentary colours, they didn't 'pop' as much as I hoped but I still really like it. :)
Tried one thing, it failed, so I dragged a chain and dipped a balloon. It's okay, I like the colours. :)
I played with crafts this week but just can't seem to translate what's in my head to reality. Still, it's a start and lots of practice is needed. :)
Playing with rainbow colours and silicone today. I finally got the paint to the correct consistency for the cells to show! But, I put too much paint on the canvas so hopefully it won't crack.
I bought a 24-colour sample pack of Mont Marte paints to try and decided to use my new flower pour cups, added 2-drops of silicone to each colour except for the black and white for a cell effect. I am greatly disappointed in the result.
I love the colours but I mixed them too thick so got very little cell action, and the pour cups are too small to get the proper effect. :(
It's really too hot to do much of anything creative today but I did do one painting, a flower dip. :)
I felt like trying something new so I grabbed random paints and did a three cup flip. I debated doing balloon 'kisses' or rolling a marble on it, but I love it the way it is! 😁
Extreme pain day today so I thought I'd try and distract myself by painting, glad I did, I am very pleased with the results. :)
These two were just screwing around. :)
I shouldn't be painting today. :(
I watch the YouTube painters, and they make it look so easy. I tried to do a coral reef and it didn't work out so instead I blew it out and ran a marble around it.
I'm still doing something wrong in trying to get the result I'm trying for. I don't know if the paint is too thick or too thin, or if I'm just not doing it right. This was another attempt to create 'pearls' along the edges but it didn't happen. :( I still love the result, but I guess I keep trying. :/
I usually do these colours on a black base, works on white too. :)
