Ancient Wind

With great sadness and regret, we must announce that Ancient Wind will no longer continue as a band. This was no easy decision, and a choice that wasn’t taken lightly. The exact nature of the split will remain private, as it is personal and in a lot of ways different for each member. Life happens, goals and feelings change, and we must move with those changes to remain intact and to remain friends. This worked so well for so long because it was a group of like-minded individuals moving toward the same end, and so we must cease, lest we become a mockery of what we once were and what made our band great.

Where to even start with the thanks? There are so many to give and not enough words to say them all. Thank you to ‘To The Head Records’ for taking a chance on us and orchestrating possibly the biggest release of any band by any genre the western slope has ever seen. We are eternally grateful to be a part of that. Thank you to the mighty ericter, creator of both our viral video hits and orchestrator of all our online shenanigans, for working so hard and taking so little. We couldn't have made it this far without you. Thank you to the venues, big and small, here and in the northwest, for accommodating our whiskey drinking ways and blasphemous mouths on and off the stage. Thank you to the bands we’ve shared the stage with and the brothers and sisters we made lasting bonds with along the way. It was an honor to bang our heads with you and revel in the madness of whiskey, blood and metal. We’ll miss you all.

The last and biggest thanks goes to the fans, both at home and abroad. Thanks to the hometown crowd, the crew that never settled for watered down rock our home is used to and came out time and time again to support the valley’s only extreme metal music act. Thanks for turning up and throwing down for the bands we brought from over the passes, showing them how us crazy mountain weirdos roll. Thank you to every single fan from Grand Junction, Denver, Wyoming, Seattle and everywhere in between. From the drunk homeless guy who put a pigeon on Jizzy Jake’s foot mid song to the fat nasty old lady who shoved her gross t**s in Roberto Inferno’s face for a free CD, and every other crazy fan encounter we’ve ever had, big or small, we are grateful. Thanks to all of you who ever bought a shirt or CD, who killed each other in the pit and got crazy with us in the front row. We’ll miss you f***s.

Who knows what the future will bring, no single member is done playing music forever. So stop by the page from time to time for any news of other musical projects. Our full length album and merch is still available on our bandcamp and To The Head Record’s website, don’t be afraid to keep the legacy alive. For now though, we must say goodbye. It is with great regret that we announce that Ancient Wind and our drummer Girth Brooks will be parting ways. We are a full time hard working band, and the rigorous practice and gigging schedule has taken its toll. He has decided to focus on his career and his family, and we wish him all the best.

But The Wind rolls on. We have almost an entire new album written on guitar, with countless shows waiting to be played and all we need is a new man behind the kit. If you can practice at least twice a week in Glenwood Springs, have a flexible schedule for playing shows and aren't afraid of serious blood, booze and mayhem, please hit us up! We're ready to get back on the road, all we need is a drummer, spread the word!
