Oh..ya a write up on Mark. Not much to say about him really.. I think he is blue……: wise words from Dwayne that plays Mark. We understand he may be a Cleric but that’s just a rumour
Brianne plays Calliope Dervish, a Battlemaster Fighter and the closest thing the team has to a tank. Calliope is the tiefling daughter of a noble family, raised in secret on a private estate for the first seventeen years of her life. Mostly all she has to show for it is a good education, a posh accent, and a chip on her shoulder. She's not exactly the sort to open up about her childhood. In spite of her fairly secretive and private nature, Calliope tends to stand out in the crowd with her pink skin, violet hair and intense red eyes. The jagged scar that runs from left temple to the right side of her jaw was probably a pretty easy heal for her teammate Mark, but she insisted on keeping it because it "looked cool".
When it comes to fighting, Calliope takes a "fast and deadly" approach. She's a dual weapon fighter who favours fancy maneuvers over brute force, but she can still brawl with the best of them. She is known for being absolutely relentless in a fight, and would rather throw herself into certain death than risk leaving an enemy standing. She's been known to take a hefty beating and still come up swinging.
Calliope isn't exactly an open book, and even her paramour Til is often kept at arms length. Her friends know her to be a bit prickly, but she genuinely loves the people she lets into her life, and would gladly put herself between them and a blade. To say Calliope has a mean streak might be an understatement, but deep down there is probably some softness. Like ... REALLY deep down. Just don't let her catch you mentioning it.
Obsidian. Our first multi class character. A Mastermind Rogue and Hunter Ranger played by Neil. Figuring we were playing a dungeon quest Neil split the class making Obsidian rather deadly with both sneak attack and some impressive abilities with a bow. They are a bit fragile though so have learned to stay out of range. That is if they don’t go charging into the belly of a gelatinous cube. Of no fault of Obsidian Neil occasionally makes bad choices.
Obsidian started life as a court advisor to royalty. They eventually grew itchy for adventure and joined the crew for the Dragon Heist Waterdeep adventure. Though Obsidian had a hard time shaking the stiff royal demeanour that became a barrier to their new friends.
After a return to working in the palace Obsidian jumped at the chance to join their friends in the Dungeon of the Mad Mage quest. Trying to be more approachable and less snobby Obsidian is awkwardly learning the social skills to bring them closer to others. Fun fact Calliope was partly raised by Obsidian who took a shining to her as a child.
Obsidian brings some diversity to our podcast being a non-binary person. They are also asexual staying away from the romance so prevalent with our friends Til and Caliope.
They enjoy clothes (the finer the better, some Royal trappings are hard to shake) but gender norms are irrelevant to them. As a cast, we want to normalize gender nonconformity, especially in light of the current world where so many laws are being passed against those harmlessly trying to live their lives. 🏳️🌈
Meet our cast. And you know what’s weird? We all actually like each other.
Gavin (bottom right) our amazing talented DM (please don’t kill us Gavin), Bri (top right) our outspoken but level minded player, Tash (bottom left) who grounds us all and can be randomly silly, Dwayne (centre left) who provides snacks and one liners and Neil (Top Right) who….. well is still trying to be forgiven for introducing Grigori in Season 3.
Ever wonder what happened to our first three seasons? Well they still exist and are archived on our Legacy Podcast on all your favourite podcast hosts. We decided to do that when we moved to a different group of players and different editing style. Our older podcast was highly edited and now we play more radio style with minimal edits (though great sound quality). So itching for old content? Go check out Crit & Fumble Legacy
The scene of our epic battle in episode four if the made mage as our not so friendly DM swarmed us with Goblins, Bugbears and Ettin’s.
As our brave hero’s dove down into level two of the mad mage we encountered a Goblin market. Fun for all!
We face two of these nasty Ettin’s in episode four and their friends. It nearly takes us down. Join us for one of our more epic battles.
Our newest episode is up on YouTube as well as your favourite podcast host. We hope we provide for your listening pleasure!
If you listened to episode two of our Mad Mage campaign you may be interested to see the gelatinous cube that swallowed some characters and the gate Obsidian decided to walk through. This dungeon is chewing us up and spitting us out.
