Just found what I believe is a first edition print of “Exploring Genesis” by John Phillips! I had the pleasure of meeting and chauffeuring the great British theologian back in 2003.
This Sunday, I begin a new sermon series walking through the book of Genesis. It would be nothing short of intellectually dishonest if I did not share the influence that this brilliant thinker had on my perspective of Genesis. He had written many more Bible commentaries before he passed, and every single one of them is a work of genius. I can’t wait to preach this Sunday!

That's me in my father's lap on the right, next to my grandmother, great grandmother, and finally, my great-great grandmother Ruby Lynn Grace Bilby. Grandma Ruby lived to be 104 years old, and her life and legacy carry on today. She was the closest person to walk with God in this life that I ever met. Being in this woman's presence was a spiritual experience even in her later years. The last time I saw her, she was 102, and I was about 15 years old. I am where I am today because people like my great-great grandma prayed for my family.
