The "Consumerism" series focuses on excessive consumption, unjustified by the real needs of heaving, where not ecological or social costs are important. It is built on feelings related to a sense of anxiety, chaos, often resulting from excessive promotion of individualism or reduced interpersonal relationships.
_
"Metamorphoses" tell about the mental transformation that occurs when colliding with modern civilization.
This is not an organic transformation, it is more forced by external factors. This has to do with the unconsciousness
and permeation. I am exploring here a collision of two systems that are dispersed, interpenetrate and are devoided of solid shape, they evolve, dominate one over the other.
_
The graphic series has received numerous awards, including the Gold Medal at the GoSeeAwards 2019 Berlin Festival ("Illustration" category) and the GRANT - of the Honorable Mention Award for "Ello creative Excellence Awards" USA. In addition, the graphics were presented at the exhibitions "II Review of Contemporary Art "New Avant Garde" at the Wilson Shaft Gallery in Katowice and "Repurpose" by Adidas Originals x Creative Debuts in London.

"Every line, point, sign or trace is characterized by one or more tonal / plastic variations that define its shape and confirm its existence.
The opposition, the contrast, as well as the positive and negative extremes, the informatic zero and one, etc., can generate a code through which the reading of meanings and grasping of information from the visible and no-visible world are possible. Contrast envisioned as an organic whole, but also as the result of an action that limits an expansion and affirms unity, as a single or as an individual.
The "Contrasts" theme is expressed from a formal-aesthetic and physical point of view, as well as by the biological, human, political, social and psychological perspective"

"In the Image Emanation series, artist Cityabyss fragments images of shaded and dotted grays, intertwining them and integrating with lines, black and white shapes that remind us curvilinear and sensual forms by Hans Arp... "

"Fragmented frontiers of the self"
Another great review of my works, this time written by Elena Stanciu from PETRIe Inventory
Thank you very much for the interview and a very insightful review, analysing the most important aspects related to my work.

"Under the moniker Cityabyss, artist and designer Beata Szczecinska applies a fresh approach to creating visual culture in a world of visual oversaturation. Her art projects "Consumerism and Emanation", identified in her rich portfolio as “personal,” do indeed feel very personal to a viewer who, at first glance, must put it all together and charm some type of meaning into revealing itself. Fragmentation and a penchant for the indistinguishable are present in her works, which retain an articulated critical voice, resisting the comfort of abstraction. Multi-layered and monochromatic, Szczecinska’s works speak to a time and space we recognise with ease. The confusion and alienation of urban life, the sensory overdrive of consumerism, the contradictions of form, content, and intention – they all inform individual and collective experiences of today, as the consumer and the consumed overlap and blend, with images forming new frontiers of the self"

Very interesting and, above all, very accurate and beautifully written review of the series "Image Emanation"
Written by Laura Malaterra from Artwort 🙏😃
"In the "Image Emanation" series, artist Beata Szczecinska, Polish illustrator and designer, who graduated from the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Lomza and the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, she fragmented images of shaded and dotted grays, intertwining them and integrating with lines, black and white shapes that remind us
curvilinear and sensual forms by Hans Arp. "The idea behind my concept is a fragment, shredding, assembly, interference in the image, excessive vision, visual waste, multilayeredness, conglomerate, content noise, shred, scrap, recoil"
The artist shows us broken world by overlapping visual sequences, flowing like an uninterrupted flow of visions and appearances, which emphasizes visual consumerism. She fragmented pictures of characters, introduces simulations and appearances of reality that are an imaginary representation of the unreal. Static forms that contain the potential force of an explosion, they transform into other forms, their mobility is felt, they are mutated but stable, while remaining in chaos to become unstable"

"Art is only possible in a world with democracy. The art movement of Dadaism questioned all existing norms and values with irony. Dada was a short but decisive period of absolute artistic freedom. There was no place for logic, but only artistic room for magic and absurdism. In this exhibition Dada and Democracy, we present the work of artists who question the social and political situation of the world in our time"

Series of three wall designs I created for Bank BGK in their brand new office located in Warsaw Varso complex. The murals (the longest wall is over 16 metres long) are located on the three floors of the new office space. The project is an interpretation of the mural I made last year on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Bank BGK, and it was located in Warsaw Centrum Metro Station, where the walls had a total area of 360 square meters.
