Potential Athletic Upgrades at East High School: Part of the 2022 referendum plan includes upgrades to the outdoor athletic facilities at both East and West High School, which will benefit not only the school sports and students, but will allow for more flexibility with traveling leagues. This will positively affect baseball, softball, football, tennis and soccer, allowing more options for practice and game times, while adding much needed safety measures for both athletes and spectators. One more reason to vote YES on April 5th!

Check out what is proposed for East High School.

Help us meet the WSD facilities and maintenance needs by voting YES on April 5th!

One of the Wausau School District’s key areas of need is Facility Systems & Deferred Maintenance.

While our maintenance staff has made the most of the district’s maintenance funding, facility systems in our several of our building have outlived their useful lives. This includes inefficient and outdated heating and cooling systems in some buildings. In others, systems are obsolete and no longer supported by their manufacturer.

These needs also include electrical systems that are not conducive to modern classroom use and lights that are both inefficient and no longer effective. Additionally, several of our buildings have inefficient single-pane windows, worn-out floor coverings, worn ceilings, and aging roofs and pavement that require replacement.

While the district does have a maintenance budget to cover some of these costs, under the Wisconsin school finance system, most districts are not able to set aside enough money to cover big-ticket items like those described above. This is the case in Wausau.

That's why part of the April 5th Referendum includes addressing those facility systems and deferred maintenance at our middle and high schools. Learn more about the district’s needs and the proposed solution on the April 5 ballot: https://wausau.referendumfacts.org/
