Seagrass Awareness and Advocacy Resources
A resourced based call to incite a global movement to advocate for the protection of seagrass!
Blue carbon | How seagrass is our ocean's wonder plant and their role in fighting climate change Humble seagrass beds contain 18% of the world’s oceanic carbon and can absorb CO2 35 times as fast as tropical forests. Help us tell world leaders it’s time ...
1. To facilitate awareness about the environmental importance of seagrass.
2. To act as the go-to hub for information and resources propelling forward momentum from the "grassroots".
3. To support local communities around the world to independently mobilize to protect seagrass in coastal waters.
We want to focus on a multi-tiered approach on how to become actively engaged in your community even if you don't live in a coastal area. We will:
-support the exchange of up-to-date information
-provide access to activist-based toolkits and resources & information on how to get involved in policy change-making
-facilitate participation in non-violent direct action
-gaining exposure to grow the movement
Furthermore, we want to distill our efforts into something that has immediacy! We want to be efficient with how we engage our efforts so that we have the most impact. Out with make-work projects and lengthy bureaucratic processes and in with real action!
4. To connect advocates internationally, mapping the distance between continents through the digital sphere.

A scenario snapshot reminder and PSA about the reality of and to remember to: and
Jumbo faded fuchsia pink straws, processed food wrappers, and shredded garbage bags float on the surface of the outgoing tide. The crashing waves drag the plastic under and vomit it back out into foamy whitewash like a load in a washing machine. As the tide retreats, garbage sticks to the algae on the columns of the jagged slate coloured rock reaching up from the ocean floor. Wells in the pangea like puzzle brim with seawater. Inside each pool, teal sea anemones are poked with sharp plastic edges. The seagrass is being choked by department store branded petroleum polymers. The fish are swimming with disposable kinder egg surprise toys. As far as the eye could see, the entire coastline is covered, blanketed by a carpet of banished waste. We have manufactured a barrier bordering the sea's undulating flanks, reminiscent of the wall U.S. politicians have built to keep themselves safe.
