Buttons by Athena and Me

I'm experimenting with my new mini lightbox - which display is better? ❤️ for the one with leaves, and 🥰 for the plain...

This isn't quite the effect I was going for but I think they're pretty cool anyway 🥰

Packed full of glitter, check. Bonkers, check. Looks like an Athena special! My five-year-old was given free rein on these and... you can tell. She has a very determined artistic vision and woe betide anyone who gets in the way - and that's exactly what I want.

These are from my enduringly popular unicorn-themed buttons range - you can get them in 10-25mm sizes all on my E T S Y page, and now you can get a matching snap clip pair to go with your outfit! That's coordination, Kyle. I make these fairly regularly as they go quite quick, and I never get tired of them. Favourite favourites 🥰

These are one of my favourite types of buttons to make - they're all the snippity snipped offcuts from trimming the other buttons. Instead of putting it all in the bin, I keep it and create a whole new button with it. It always gives an incredible effect and interesting dimension. These aren't actually for sale as I loved them too much to part with and I am currently wearing them in my hair, but I just had to share them anyway 🥰

I make so many buttons based on whatever mood I'm in, I forget when and who I was with when I make them (it's usually Athena, to be fair), but I THINK these were made with when she demanded a tequila sunrise inspired button - but I might have made that up... 🤔

These are pretty beefy lil white gold beauties - attached with lilac thread, you need your hair up in a ponytail to cope with these, because they are chunky lil monkeys!

These are pretty awesome - moody black buttons attached with dark grey thread. They bring the drama (and also the cuteness, because, you know - buttons)

This week has been a funny one for me. A project I've been putting my heart and soul into almost fell through but didn't quite, and then both my kids got norovirus 🤢 it swerved me though, and I've had a bit of time to hang our with the (no longer vomiting) older one today whilst I put together buttons sets, so right now all is going okay. Apart from the whole Ukraine thing, which is pretty horrific, but we've put together a box of necessities that's going over in a lorry organised by our local pub and we'll continue to keep trying to do our bit.

I made these button clips from a commission set and they are so pretty 😍

I've been really busy lately with a super exciting work project, but gave myself last night off (the first evening off in at least three weeks 😳) just to hang out with my buddy and make buttons together. I love making commissions for people anyway but it was extra special working with someone in person to achieve the look she wanted. Also she did some of the necessary boring bits of filing and drilling the buttons so that was pretty cool too 🥰🥰

This is actually three hair combs stacked up, but I'm loving how mad it looks! I feel like I should be working out how to make them all look like this 😍

I've been working on earrings and commissions lately, and haven't had chance to let the Athena aspect of "Buttons by Athena and Me" get involved, as making buttons with a three year old is generally a lot more chaotic. But I let her go bananas with the glitter this morning, and this is the result ♡ she always thinks of combinations I wouldn't, and reminds me I need to let go of what I think will work and try experimenting more often 💕
