GlobalCourage
Global Courage empowers people globally to live & lead more courageously. We live in fearful times.
Global Courage is a community of people committed to living lives that matter, and making a meaningful contribution to the world. It's focus is on supporting women to become bolder leaders and powerful catalysts for change - challenging status quo thinking, engaging in bigger conversations and building bridges to new possibilities for all.
What a delight to spend time with General (Ret) Stanley McChrystal. Upon meeting, he said “just call me Stan” - a reflection of his humility and authenticity.
Having been responsible for 150,000 troops from 45 countries as Commander of US Forces in Afghanistan and NATO International Forces, Stan expanded my thinking on courage, risk and resilience as it applies to leadership. He views the greatest risk in any situation is ourselves - in how we perceive and respond to risk. Our conversation galvanized my resolve to support the next generation of leaders to be courageous enough to take the intelligent risks required to improve outcomes (and not just their own status!) Clearly the world is much in need of humble, principled and courageous leader’s in every sphere.
If you’ve not read any of Stan's books - including his bestselling Team of Teams, I recommend you do! Stan exemplifies great leadership and is a true leader of leaders.
Today is Remembrance Day in Australia and Veterans Day in the United States.
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we will remember all who gave their lives to protect our freedom. Among them include my great Uncle Frank who died across the world from all he loved and who loved him during World War 1.
These red poppies projected onto the Sydney Opera House serve to remind each of us of the service and sacrifice of all service members.
