Dr. Jane Goodall PhD, DBE is Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace - and also part of the Planetary Guardians. Since her groundbreaking chimpanzee research in what is now Gombe, Tanzania, Jane has committed her life to advocating for the wellbeing of people, other animals, and the environment we all share.
Our mission at is to elevate the science, including unveiling the world’s first Planetary Boundary Health check, which will track the state of the Planet and allow us to develop a roadmap back to safety.

Meet the Planetary Guardians.
A diverse collective, collaborating across generations, cultures, and sectors: Former President Mary Robinson, Hindou Oumarou, Sylvia Earle, Former President Juan Manuel Santos, Ayisha Siddiqa, Naoko Ishii, Ralph Chami, Xiye Bastida, Hiro Mizuno, Farwiza Farhan, Robert Redford, Sunita Narain, David Suzuki and Jane Goodall.
The guardians will seek to expand and grow, eventually hoping to inspire many more planetary guardians, united in our commitment to restoring a healthy partnership with the planet.

As reported in The Guardian last week, the first complete ‘scientific health check’ shows that six of the nine Planetary Boundaries have been broken and Earth is now well outside of the safe operating space for humanity. As Planetary Guardians, we are committed to elevating the science of the Planetary Boundaries and to bringing the six breached boundaries into a safe zone.
