She had bounced from relationship to relationship, seemingly always ending up in the same place..
Heartbroken and alone.
She didn’t know what she was doing wrong and why she always seemed to end up holding the pieces of her heart.
Her friends would watch her choose all the wrong men for all the wrong reasons and would inevitably be there for her to help her through the breakups...
Without judgement or opinion, they’d hold her heart as she tried to put herself back to together again.
Amidst the tears and endless sleepless nights, at the end of another broken road of love, something inside of her snapped.
Maybe it was out of frustration, anger or perhaps she just had an awakening..
She’d tell her friends later that she didn’t know what sparked her realization of her problem.
Maybe her soul was just weary and tired of her heart being broken..
But she finally understood that it wasn’t what she was doing wrong in love, it was what she wasn’t doing for herself that led her here.
For far too long and for all the wrong reasons, she identified herself through her relationships and found her worth there, too
She’d been too busy chasing love and kissing frogs to ever love herself the way she deserved.
She’d stopped doing the things that made her soul happy and tried to fix partners that she should never have tried to save to begin with.
She made it all about them and never about herself..and the men didn’t care about her needs to begin with- they never really did.
They basked in her attention and enjoyed her affection, but it was empty and unfulfilling for her..but she was too busy trying to please them that she didn’t see that.
She had hit the wall and was done turning her heart outwards any more.
She stopped trying to find love and started trying to find herself instead.
She didn’t have the answers and didn’t know what the future held, but at least she knew what she was worth and would never again settle for less..
Not from herself and definitely not from any man.
