Across Turtle Island we grieve and we remember.

Decades of injustices and untold horrors that to this day cannot be estimated across hundreds of Residential and Boarding schools.

One of many tools to "kill the Indian, save the man". for colonial encroachers. Many of these school systems were funded, operated, and ran by large religious institutions that still exist to this day.

How do we reconcile with the same system that designated us for extermination?

The history of these schools is fraught with controversy and hardship. Many students in these schools were subjected to harsh conditions, cultural suppression, physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and forced labor. The impact of these schools on Indigenous communities has been profound and has left a legacy of trauma and cultural disruption for generations of Indigenous peoples.

We remember but will never forget.
