Mental health is a vital part of our life that we must keep healthy, but stigma and lack of understanding are the major barriers that lead to feelings of shame and self-consciousness. It can negatively impact help-seeking as well as early detection and prevention.

We have all been given a voice and the ability to listen; please use these gifts to start affecting the way we perceive mental health.

We possess the power to effect change so let's use this to bond together as equals. Let that someone know they're not alone, that it's okay not to be okay.

If you're feeling down, try to go over these to know some of the reasons why you're feeling that way

In our world today, being vulnerable is perceived as a weakness. What we need to know is that constantly being in a positive state is unhealthy in terms of our mental health. We all need to experience the full range of our emotions, both negative and positive, for our mind, body, and soul to be at ease.

Compare Life to a long-distance race, if you sprint from the beginning, you will burn out and hurt yourself from pushing too hard. Pace yourself, It's always okay to not be okay; its okay to take a break. It doesn't need to be a whole day, just a few minutes to check-in yourself and others. Mental health challenges are always there, but we can learn to manage them by looking out for each other as a society.

Here is a video to enlighten you on what is our purpose and what we want to accomplish.

Stay Safe!

With social distancing observed nowadays, students will feel isolated. Students also face numerous workloads every day. The number of students who feel depressed or suicidal is alarming even before the pandemic and is continuously increasing as of the moment.

A university in Greece conducted an online survey concerning the impact of lockdown on their students' mental health. Based on the survey, 42.5% experienced anxiety, 74.3% for depression, and 63.3% had suicidal thoughts. It also showed that 66.3% of the students had increased their sleep quantity, but quality worsened by 43%. Furthermore, their quality of life worsened by 57%.

These results showed the impact of lockdown and quarantine on the mental health of their students. These experiences might result in suicidal thoughts, which might turn into a bad circumstance. Therefore, spreading awareness is a must.

It’s Okay not to be Okay is a page that aims to raise awareness and promote a good mental health to people, especially the students, despite the current situation that the world is facing. Together, let’s educate people about mental illnesses, stereotypes, and its consequences in everyone’s health. Remind everyone that we must keep our minds healthy, and to break the stigma about mental illnesses.
