A new heart for Excel #47 has arrived in time for upcoming Dimet Tools NT Titles. Lets bolt it in and see how it holds up.
August 11th will see the NAMSC NT Titles run, massive full day of racing. Got a spare Tiguan engine there in case the new engine lets go, LOL.

25/07/2024

Well its been nearly a week since the 2024 IP Nationals at Hidden Valley Raceway. Was hoping to write something earlier this week but unfortunately Monday morning brought a bit of a twist to our lives with Meagan unable to get out of bed with some nasty head spins that continued all week. I still haven’t been to work this week and would like to put a massive thanks out to all the Top End Electrical boys who have carried on whilst I haven’t been available.
But lets talk about Motor Racing with all four cars getting out there this weekend.
Firstly thankyou to all the Officials and Volunteers for their time over the weekend, it was great seeing so many out there over the three days and truly hope you all had a great weekend. To the NAMSC - North Australian Motor Sports Club Committee thankyou for organising the event, was a great weekend. Also to Rodney Jessup, Stephen Johnston, Shane Smith and David Ling, the background work to organise this event and preparation would have been exhausting, on behalf of our team, Thankyou for your efforts
Car #7 – Me
The Commodore come out of the box pretty well after its visit to the Commodore Whisperer. The steering issue is resolved but car still feels a little uncomfortable. But I’m putting that down to the driver just need to adjust to the modifications made to the car by Eddie to help with corner speed. Race 1 and 2 were great fun as comfortably running fourth and playing hard with Geoff Cowie. Times were ok but there was definitely more speed in the car but that damn No.10 wouldn’t get out of the way. Morning of Race 3, after a lot of effort went into the Excels I decided to have a look over the car, found a large crack in the rear brake disc, was even to big for me to take out. So race back to the workshop, get all the parts and back to the track to rebuild, unfortunately didn’t get finished in time, so missed Race 3. Race 4 we started P6 but was in 2nd place by turn 1. Did the best I could to hold P2 for as long as could but once on the straight, car 26 just screamed by. Then in turn 5 coming in hot on second lap after not bedding new rear brakes, they locked in the last part of the braking area leading me to run wide onto the grass, this lead to a safety car, caught back up to the train for the restart. Then coming out of turn 2 saw the two leaders in the fence and the race was red flagged. Thanks to Eddie Austin for his work and Geoff Cowie for the great racing.
Car #17 – Dakota Masters (Masters Motorsport)
Practice saw Dakota get comfortable in the car after all works around the rear brakes to try and sort out her overheating brake issue. In Qualifying Kota got her mojo back, we saw lap times back into the 31’s which was great to see. Kota little smirk was back, qualifying P5 in her class.
Race 1 saw a 6th place finish as the SA Excel guys and Dakota racing hard for whole race, constantly lapping in mid 31’s but the Graham’s got the better of her in the end.
Race 2 saw the rear brake issues return, catching on fire this time and DNF unfortunately.
Prior to Race 3 saw a full rebuild of both sides of #17 rear brakes. Race 3 saw Dakota of the rear of the grid but genuinely running comfortably in 5th place but was able to finish 4th across the line. Again constantly lapping in the low 31’s but was able to drop down in to 30’s which I am pretty sure is a PB and getting clear of the South Aussies team.
Race 4 saw Kota start in P7 and was able to get up to P6 and battled hard with the Graham’s again for the duration, running comfortably 31’s yet again. It was great to see Kota smiling again and back up to pace, not even letting brakes catching on fire or a massive face off with wall hinder her weekend. Great Work Dakota..
Car #27 – Robert Holloway (Runamuck Racing)
This weekend we found a new Bob Holloway to steer the car, no sure where this guy came from but he was on fire, easily getting down into the 33.1 in Qualy. Pretty sure that was a PB.
Race 1 saw Bob finish P7 constantly running in the mid 33’s but he was even able to crack into the 32’s. Awesome to found some great speed in Car 27.
Race 2 saw Bob comfortably running in 7th place until he decided to give the walls a bit of rub over the back of the track. Minor damage and some minor gentle persuasion with guard to get it clear of tyre sent him back out, finished last but still got some points scored.
Race 3 saw Bob running P6 all the way through to the last lap, running/lapping clearly in mid 33’s and low 34’s. Last lap saw one of South Aussie guys get him for a P7 finish.
Race 4 was the last 30 minute race and Bob was running P8 for the majority of the race but was able to get up in 7th place for the finish. Again running 33’s and low 34’s which was awesome. Congratulations for some great racing Bob.
Car #47 – Noah Grosser (NG4 Racing)
Where do we start.
Practice - Lap 2 engine detonation – nothing else to say.
Qualifying saw the assistance of SA racer Graham Hewett who offered a spare engine for Noah’s car. #47 saw a new heart installed after hours of work completed by Robert Holloway, Scott Grosser and Nat Brazier ( 4 hours to remove engine, strip and rebuild and install new engine back in, all while in the track garage is absolutely ridiculous). The word Thankyou just doesn’t carry their efforts. Noah was able to finish qualy with 29.8 putting him P4.
Race 1 saw #47 comfortably running fourth in the front group of 4, lapping constantly in 29’s, eventually snuck into 3rd place until the Battery Isolator switch failed and shutdown the engine. Grrrr, a DNF recorded.
Race 2 saw Noah have a cracking start and get through the field and ended Lap 1 in 1st place, held 1st place for a couple of laps till Connor and Aleeanz snuck through leaving Noah in 3rd place. Lap 12 saw a lap time I never thought I would see out of one of my cars, 28.8, the three of them were on fire and truly racing hard, was great viewing. Noah was able to sneak into P2 for finish.
Prior to Race 3 we also found some rear brake damage on #47, so full rebuild of both sides an send him. Noah comfortably fighting with SA driver Kurtis Hinks throughout the race and eventually Noah was able sustain 2nd place with Connor clearly leading from the front. Noah again lapping in low 29’s.
Race 4 the first couple of laps saw the four of them going at it again until about lap 5 when Noah and Connor skipped away. Noah was driving as per instructions and was up for a big crack at the end but unfortunately saw another car breakdown and cause the last laps under safety car. Was a great race both by the boys until that safety car. Again lapping in 29’s. Great effort by Noah and such a shame the race didn’t finish under green, reckon you had him.
And a Happy Birthday to Peter Holloway and James for Sunday, the piñata was great hit.

When I got into motor racing 6 years ago, it was all about me and having a crack a sport I have watched all my life, never been able to do. Like others I could have continued down that individual path, but today, 6 years on, it has truly changed, now I have been able to involve not only just my family, including both mine and Meagan's parents, but here today is something I am very proud of. Five families now involved and invested in all of the cars. We call them kids, but Dakota and Noah are doing an amazing job on the track, Bob is flying this weekend as well.
We have the Holloway family, Grosser family, Masters family, Henderson family, Brazier family and of my course the Dempsey family. Thankyou to all of you for letting this silliness go on.
Massive thankyou to

I hope your all enjoying this as much as I do.

Well its now been a week since the 2024 Darwin Supercars Combined Sedans was run and won, I think I finally have moved beyond the disappointment. My disappointment is not a representation of the effort put in by everyone and results, I’ll explain later. Firstly, I would like to thank the NAMSC Committee, Dimet Tools and Category Manager, David Ling for all the background work to enable our little grass roots club to get on the fixture. To all officials and volunteers that attended the event, thank you for your time to enable the event to happen.
The event, for our Team definitely had its ups and down which led to my level of annoyance, but we will run through vehicles individually.
Car 17 – Dakota Masters (Circuit Excel)
2024 was Dakota’s second attempt in the Combined Sedans category on the Supercar Weekend. This was the first weekend our cars have tried to run the new Category control tyre, Dunlops. Out of the box in first practice we saw Dakota get back into 1.31’s which was great to see. Dakota has been pushing really hard this year but has complained all year that her car is down on power and we thought we finally had it sorted it out. As the first day unfolded she slowly drifted back in high 32’s and 33’s. I’m not going to give up on this engine/car, I apologise to Dakota for not giving you what you need. If we cannot get this sorted, I’m going throw this engine away and get a new one. I’d like to thank Dakota and also her team (Masters Motorsport) for not losing enthusiasm. Also, something else that has been able to happen, which I have been trying to get sorted over the last 6 months, was to make Car 17 an all-Female team. We have successfully achieved that and can’t wait to see what they can do with this car.
Car Owner – Meagan Dempsey
Team Manager – Hayley Masters
Driver – Dakota Masters
Head Mechanic - Nat Brazier
Mechanic – Rochelle
Head of Cheer Squad – Mia Dempsey

Car 27 – Robert Holloway (Circuit Excel)
This was Bob’s first event for the 2024 year and was great to see him back on the track. I saw over the weekend that Bob’s lap times got into the 1.33’s, which I’m pretty sure was heading to a PB. He played all weekend with the HQ’s, matching their lap times. Then in the final race going through turn 10, Bob decided to try a bit of rubbing is racing with a HQ, the HQ won and Bob ended in the sand trap on the outside of Turn 10, conveniently parked directly in front of his sponsors tent, Total Tools. Great product placement by Bob, the officials had other things to say about the incident but we will move on.
Car 47 – Noah Grosser (Circuit Excel)
2024 was Noah’s first steer at a Supercars Event in the Excel, after a lot of work to get that car repaired and on the track for this event, Noah performed exceptionally well. At the beginning of the year, I had a goal for Noah to be lapping consistently 1.31’s by end of the year. It took two rounds for him to complete that and now has moved even further. When on track over the weekend, Noah was comfortably lapping in the low 1.30’s. when you actually put his best sectors together it’s a 1.29.4 (faster than Rossi’s fastest lap last year in that car). Noah mixed it with the Top 5 in the Excel section of the category. Unfortunately, in Race 2 we saw the timing cover crack which ended his race, eventually his weekend. After a valiant effort by multiple people to get the car back on the track, it just didn’t happen. So, Race 3 was from the pits for Noah. It was a great effort by Noah to achieve what he did, there is still more to come for this kid. We’ll get the car back up and running for Excel Enduro next month for Noah to have another crack.
Car 7 – Me (Commodore Cup)
After getting some basic maintenance done on the Steering Rack, a lot of money spent, the new steering rack failed in practice. The start of my annoyance. This led me to coming in early from practice and then completely missing qualifying. Parts we borrowed, begged and stolen to get the car out for Race 1 in the afternoon. Starting rear of grid, the car was still not right, but decided to just circulate, but due to haste of steering repairs work, the front wheels were way off which led to the front right tyre exploding going down the main straight at over 200km/hr, race over (more annoyance). The Commodore Whisperer was able to help us out prior to Race 2 and helped get the steering back close to the window, steering was still off and the engine was down on power, but we were able to finish Race 2 and 3. Finishing Race 3 in 10th but we should have been way further up the field. Car 7 has now been delivered straight to Commodore Whisperer’s workshop to see if we can get this steering issue completely sorted out.
So between, Car 17’s engine lack of power, Car 47 engine failure and the failures on Car 7 led to me being quite annoyed and disappointed by the end of the weekend. By no means is this anything to do with either Dakota or Noah, or anybody else, it was just bad luck which I was hoping we wouldn’t have.
Car 777- Rossi Johnson (V8 SuperUte Series)
Meagan and I were super excited about being able to assist Rossi Johnson Racing with his first home race in this V8 beast. Rossi pushed hard all weekend, his lap times throughout the four races were regularly in the top 5, sometimes being fastest lapper out there but track position wasn’t always in his favour. I think he finished the weekend about 10th on points with a lot more experience. Having one of his six allocated tyres destroyed in Race 1 getting involved with another vehicle not watching his mirrors, also did not help his weekend. Rossi will be returning in the Ute for the next round at Eastern Creek in four weeks, so follow his page and get involved supporting this young Territorian.
Now for the thankyou’s the people that help all this silliness to occur. Without them the cars wouldn’t make the track. So to

Robert Holloway
Colin Masters
Scott Grosser
Peter Holloway (wasn't there but was definitely missed)
Ian Marchioni
Shaquille Holloway

Nat Brazier ( get her more coffee)
Rochelle

I'm so happy we can announce that there will be a fifth car out there this weekend at the Darwin Supercars with our livery on it. Rossi Johnson of Rossi Johnson Racing has been around our little team for a couple of years now. Watched him start out in the HQ's a couple of years ago where in his first year he picked up NAMSC's Rookie of the Year and 3rd overall, he moved on into the National 86 Series for the next couple of years, which was a bit of a struggle but he persisted and continually worked on his race craft and regularly moving further up the running order to the back of the Top 10. Last year we were able to offer Rossi one of our Circuit Excel cars for the NAMSC season, of which he finished second in a very tightly contested 2023 season, reliability let him down not skill. The things he did in that Excel were genuinely amazing and the lap times were ridiculous considering the equipment he had under him. Also throughout 2023 he took on a mentoring role for our younger driver, Dakota Masters who was in her first year of tin top racing. Was great seeing them discussing technique and growing a great bond. A bond they still have today.
Now in 2024 Rossi Johnson Racing has stepped up to the V8 SuperUte Series to follow his dream, he still makes time to come to each local event to mentor both Dakota from Masters Motorsport and also our newest recruit, Darwin Junior, 14 year old Noah Grosser. Rossi sits down with both of them at the end of each race, goes through the footage/data and breaks everything down to get a better result. This support shown by Rossi has lead to Dakota's first race win in 2024 and Noah getting a couple of 2nd place results already.
We wish Rossi all the best the weekend and in the 2024 V8 SuperUte Series..

Preparation for the 2024 Darwin Supercars Combined Sedans is well under way. Nothing like an engine install 2 days out. All four cars will be out representing this weekend, car #7 will be running under Commodore Cup Category with myself steering, then the Excels, Car #17, with young 16 year old Territorian Dakota Masters from Masters Motorsport having her second run at Supercars, doing it for the girls. Hopefully her brake issue is finally resolved and she can let loose. Car #27 will see Robert Holloway return to the track for the first time this year. Then Car #47, all repaired from recent chassis issue, being steered by 14 year old Noah Grosser from NG Motorsports competing in his first Supercars support event. Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend. Whispers are out that there might be a fifth car out there this weekend, watch this space...

That Noah, his hard on the gear. Engine out, steering rack out. Now we can clearly see the issue. Pretty impressive to snap the welds clean off the fire wall.

04/05/2024

We are just about ready for North Australian Motor Sports Club (NAMSC) ROUND 2. Car 7 completed a quick shake down today with no major issues, drivers got to grow a pair though. Car 17 had a quick shake down as well, developed issues with rear brakes, that's why we have practice sessions, should be good to go in the morning. Car 47 also had brake issues but was able to get a couple good runs in which was good. Car 27 still not ready but hopefully be good to go for Darwin Supercars in 6 weeks. 3 out of 4 is not bad. Hopefully a great day of racing tomorrow

Well that concludes North Australian Motor Sports Club (NAMSC) Ross Hanning Memorial Round 1 supported by Dimet Tools Darwin held at Hidden Valley Raceway. The weekend did not start without it gremlins, these ongoing Electrical issues in Excel 47 was very challenging but we got there in the end, we think. The car survived the 12 lapper in the end, so I'm taking that as a win.
Low numbers in the Circuit Excel NT - CENT today with only five entries, this lead to a great opportunity for our young pilots to get good track time in race conditions with not a big crowd.

Excel 17 steered by Dakota Masters of Masters Motorsport had a good start to the day Qualifying 3rd. The car seemed to be a little down on power which it struggled with all day.
Race 1 started well with a cracker off the line which saw Dakota pull up along side the two front row cars, she was able to get in to P2 and held that position for 8 laps.
Race 2 saw a reverse grid race and saw Dakota smothered by HQ's. Once Dakota got clear of the HQ's she set off chasing the two leading Excels down. Unfortunately unable to chase them down but a solid 3rd place.
Race 3 saw Excel 17 of P2, taking off chasing Kroonie in the leading Excel. Unfortunately Dakota couldn't stay on his tail with little engine deficiency we had, but stayed clear of the other Excels and HQ's to finish a solid 2nd.
4th All In Combined 12 lap race saw Kota from P8 amongst the 20 race cars for the day. A solid start falling into P2 for the category, solid 12 laps but Kota dropped back one position to P3 for a good day of racing. Solid day, solid communication between Kota and Rossi Johnson Racing to get her car and her craft moving forward.

Excel 47, polar opposite start to the day. Electrical gremlins and just trying to get the car to fire was a real challenge but many heads prevailed. We got it to crank over and got it through scrutineering and onto the practice grid. Survived 6 laps and then shut down completely out on the track. Scotty and Bob found an issue with battery isolator cable, repaired and prepped for Race 1.
Race 1 saw Noah starting P4. Noah got a good start but found out really quickly what is like to race with the HQ boys. The car again starting having a fuel problems where Noah erred on the side of caution and retired the car. More head scratching.
Race 2 saw the reverse grid race and Noah of the front row. Noah had a great start and was able to hold the lead for half a lap. From there he has able have a good run and maintain P2 till the end, solid lap time and experience.
Race 3 saw a P3 start, a good start but electrical issues returned again. Straight into the pits, lucked on another possible ni**le, cabled tie the hell out of everything and sent it back out, were 6 laps were completed by P5 was the result.
Race 4, more electrical adjustments around the Battery Isolator, new fuel sender and boom, the car came to life. Starting of P10, Noah had a solid start, had a good race with Kota, eventually getting passed on Lap 4 and pushed on and had a solid run. Natsoft timing not updated as yet but I clocked him at 32 flat. A very solid start to his Rookie Year, great patience considering the up and down day we had with the car.

Very proud of the two pilots today, learnt a lot and still a lot to learn but it was a very refreshing feeling at the end of the day with both drivers able to drive the cars on the trailer. So Kota and Noah, well done.

To Robert Holloway and Scott Grosser, thankyou for your persistence and patience with the cars, especially while I was out flagging. We will tighten them up and get them sorted for the next round. Also thankyou to Rossi Johnson from Rossi Johnson Racing for taking time out of his weekend, talking and mentoring Noah and Kota to further there development.
Thankyou to all of the officials, organisers and volunteers out there today, was a beautiful Top End day, great day to go racing and we, the whole team, respect your efforts so we can get out there and do this crazy sport.

To all the team supporters, this is a great start to the season and thankyou for your ongoing support. Hopefully Car 7 will return to the track for the next round.

23/07/2023

Lets just say the 2023 Middy's Electrical NT Titles at Hidden Valley Raceway conducted by North Australian Motor Sports Club (NAMSC) was a day of highs and lows. We walk away with some extremely amazing results and a day of niggling/frustrating Electrical fault.

Car #27 steered by Robert Holloway truly showed us today that he is getting more and more confident and faster, cracking a few 33's in todays race's. Keep pushing Rob, there more in it. Watching you in the last race fighting it out with the HQs was great.

Car #47 steered by Rossi Johnson of Rossi Johnson Racing did things today i didn't think was possible in any my cars, racing all day in 29's with Zac Hannon for 1st position. Zac won the day for Excels, he truly deserved it and congratulations Zac and his team, they raced door to door for most of the day, great deal of respect between the two and didnt touch once. Congratulations Rossi on a great display today finishing P2 for Circuit Excel NT - CENT NT Titles.

Car #17 all i can do is apologise to Dakota, after such a great Friday practice with some cracking times, and then today. Words cannot describe my emotions about the endless issues. Dakota patience and positive attitude truly helped today, for that i thank you. We've got 3 weeks to sort this Electrical issue out.

Thanks to all the officials and volunteers out there today, without you guys these days wouldn't be able to occur...

A massive shout out again for the amazing help from Robert Holloway and Pete Holloway to keep these cars running at this level. Without you guys this wouldn't work, so THANKYOU.. Also a big thank you out to our ongoing sponsors and allowing this little team exist.
