500 WORDS, DAY 68: Find Something You’re Interested in Learning 07/09/2024

My current synth setup: MPC One, Digitakt & Digitone, Microfreak, TD-3 Today I’ve been using any free moment I’ve had to keep learning more and more about synthesizers and everything related to them. The fascination has been building up for years really, but now that I’m finally starting to put together a proper home studio, I feel like I really want to take my knowledge up to the next level....

500 WORDS, DAY 67: Living Through Goals & Experiments 06/09/2024

wonder when this thing will become weird, you know what I mean? I mean, right now it’s only been sixty-seven days, but what about when I’ve been writing for thousands of days straight? Who knows? Maybe it’ll never matter at all, no matter how many days I go for. After all, I’m just one person writing away at the nothingness, writing aimlessly into the void of everything that is existence....

500 WORDS, DAY 66: Children 05/09/2024

Today I thought I’d write about children. The question of children is on my mind lately because of my age. I’m 29, turning thirty in a couple months, and my wife and I have been married since 2017. We’ve actually known each other for pretty much exactly ten years now, but we’ve been married for seven. To be honest, sharing one’s life with someone else like we do, it opens up your perspective to a whole new way of life, and even after so many years I feel like we can still go deeper in our relationship....

500 WORDS, DAY 65: Appreciating Uncertainty 04/09/2024

I think it would do us all a lot of good to embrace the uncertainty of life, to have an open and inviting attitude towards change, even when we know if could be uncomfortable or even totally dreadful. Now, I don’t speak as an authority on this at all. I love my life, and the people in it. I can imagine a number of things that would completely devastate me if they were to affect someone close to me, and yet people go through these types of things every day....

500 WORDS, DAY 64: Health & Gratitude 03/09/2024

One thing we should always be aware of is our health, and we should never take it for granted. No matter what we may believe about life, whether in a religious sense or a moral sense, whether in a philosophical sense or a metaphysical or spiritual one, we can all agree that our body is a gift. We don’t know exactly why we have it....

500 WORDS, DAY 63: Music Production 02/09/2024

Today I thought I’d write about something I spend a lot of time doing, maybe even most of my time even, or at least my free time. I decided I would write about music production today. I’ve been into music for more than a decade now. It all started with hip-hop, but the more music I listened to over the years the more music I grew to love and appreciate....

500 WORDS, DAY 62: The Struggle That is Life 01/09/2024

Life can get tiring. I’m sure this truth is clear to most, if not all. There's nothing mind-blowing or groundbreaking about that statement, but since I have to get my daily post done, and that’s what I have on my mind at the time, I have to write it, I can't just ignore it. Anxiety can make life a thousand times harder as well, since you’re always in a state of constant wondering, questioning everything and everyone, digging deep into things, maybe even deeper than is necessary or healthy....

500 WORDS, DAY 61: Music is Magic 31/08/2024

Music is something truly magical. It’s always been crazy to me how something like a chord progression or a drum rhythm can make you feel a certain way. The way certain instruments sound as well, like a beautiful saxophone or string solo in a song, is just heavenly. It can put you at ease and make you feel nostalgic, while an aggressive electric guitar solo, for example, impress you greatly and give you goosebumps, a result of an indescribable feeling of inspiration and awe....

500 WORDS, DAY 60: Two of My Greatest Literary Inspirations 30/08/2024

Today I thought I’d pay homage to some of the writers who have most inspired me to do this. One big influence on me is Jack Kerouac. I don’t remember what came first, me reading ‘On the Road’ or my fascination with the counterculture of the sixties, but I know whichever came second only amplified my interest in the first one....

500 WORDS, DAY 59: Rearranging My Home Studio 29/08/2024

It’s been a busy couple of days. My wife and I have been restructuring our room/home studio. We’re both extremely happy with the results so far, and after almost three days of moving stuff around and all over the place, throwing out trash, cleaning up, and everything in between, it’s finally starting to look like we’re getting to the end of it....

500 WORDS, DAY 58: Sharing Your Life With Someone Special 28/08/2024

It’s great to have someone you can trust one hundred percent. It’s the best feeling in the world to share your life with someone who you don’t have to feel uneasy around, someone who you know is putting in just as much energy as you are into your relationship, and who truly cares for it on a regular basis. Life can, at times, seem like not much more than a confusing mess, but it seems like the blinding darkness can disappear, if only momentarily, as long as we get to share it with someone else....

500 WORDS, DAY 57: Fascination with Life and its Mysteries 27/08/2024

Everything seems corny and stupid to write about sometimes. Every idea seems ridiculous and simply not worth mentioning. I don’t know why it happens, since other days I write the exact same kinds of random things and I feel like it’s all good, like it just works. Today it just feels weird though, like, why am I even writing this? Who’s even going to read this, and out of whoever reads this, who is even going to care?...

500 WORDS, DAY 56: Fancy vs. Casual Writing? 26/08/2024

I don’t know why I write about everything like it’s going on a damn philosophy book or some s**t. Even right now, I had to delete that first sentence so I could rewrite it in the way I’d normally say it. I’m trying to write today’s post in a casual way, just as if I was talking to a friend. I mean, I don’t really know why I write in that fancy way in the first place....

500 WORDS, DAY 55: Attention 25/08/2024

Attention. Yesterday I wrote about influence. It was the first topic that came to mind when I thought of a word to write about, and I wrote about it for two days. I thought I might continue writing about influence today also, but I guess I just don’t feel up to it today. I’ve decided to write about attention instead. It just came to mind and I decided to go with it....

500 WORDS, DAY 54: Influence Pt. 2 24/08/2024

Yesterday I introduced the idea of changing up the method by which I get these daily posts done. The change I’m referring to is that now, instead of randomly writing about whatever comes to mind, in a sort of stream-of-consciousness manner, I will instead choose one specific topic to write about, and I will go from there. I mentioned that if I don’t finish the topic that same day, which is very likely since each post is only five hundred words minimum, then I will continue it the next day, and for as many days as might be necessary....

500 WORDS, DAY 53: Influence 23/08/2024

I’ve been thinking of an idea for my daily writing post. Instead of just writing randomly I’ve been thinking of basically deciding on one word or subject per day, then writing whatever comes to mind about that subject and just going from there. Of course, I have to keep in mind that subjects might be broader than others and are sure to extend way beyond five hundred words, but then again, maybe I can just keep writing about the same subject on the following days until all my ideas about it are exhausted....

500 WORDS, DAY 52: Is Romance and External Search for Meaning? 22/08/2024

Yesterday I was writing about love and romantic relationships, and how they can be a truly underrated source for finding meaning in one’s life, especially in today’s fast-paced, digital day and age. Now, you might say the notion of finding real meaning in love or romance is ridiculous in itself because, after all, how can we ever hope to find the true meaning of our own lives if we insist on searching for it externally?...

500 WORDS, DAY 51: Don’t Hate on Love 21/08/2024

Nowadays it's cool to hate on love. As illustrated by the rise of nihilism and cynical attitudes, many of us are too jaded to ever see true love as a possibility in our lives. We might find the whole question of whether romantic love even exists or not completely irrelevant, since we might feel like it's not really even worth spending much time or energy on, if any at all....

500 WORDS, DAY 50: Lives of Quiet Desperation 20/08/2024

Sometimes we get so caught up in s**t that we forget about the things that truly matter most in our lives. Sometimes our hearts hurt from longing, desperately longing for some place other than the present, somewhere other than where we are now, even when things aren’t particularly bad for us. We feel trapped for whatever reason, and it seems there’s just no escape, no matter which way we turn....

500 WORDS, DAY 49: What Is Unique Other Than Weird? 19/08/2024

When I write about my fascination with the random and weird, the reality is that it comes from a place of understanding. It comes from a place of truly understanding that we are all unique, each and every one of us, and I don’t mean to say that in a cheesy, seemingly inspirational way, I want you to actually ponder the thought....

500 WORDS, DAY 48: My Writing is Random Because Life Is 18/08/2024

It’s been almost fifty days of my current writing experiment, my goal of posting at least five hundred daily words on my blog, and although I constantly think of quitting, either from a place of laziness or just feeling overwhelmed, I’m glad I’ve persevered through it so far. I find that, at times, I can tell that my writing is getting better, and that makes me really glad, since I knew it had to be an inevitable outcome of a daily writing practice....

500 WORDS, DAY 47: Drugs as Tools, Not Entertainment 17/08/2024

I’ve been writing about addiction recently; more specifically addiction to drugs, and even more specifically, w**d addiction, which is not known to be a particularly heavy addiction, but which more and more people are starting to realize is real nonetheless, and should be discussed. I would classify myself as being addicted to w**d, but not really being too concerned with it because I feel I truly enjoy it and it adds to my life, for the most part....

500 WORDS, DAY 46: Ongoing W**d Addiction Pt. 2 16/08/2024

I’ve been writing about addictions of different kinds during the past few days. I’ve opened up about my ongoing w**d addiction, although I’m sure it might sound ridiculous to some who grew up believing, just as I did, that w**d is not addictive in the slightest. I’ve explained the reasons why certain substances, like w**d, which are considered to be only mildly addictive compared to other stronger substances, might actually be extremely hard to quit for certain groups of people, in some very specific ways....

500 WORDS, DAY 45: Classifying Drugs & Addictions 15/08/2024

Yesterday I continued the topic I started two days ago, that of my ongoing w**d addiction, and about w**d in general and what I think about it, as well as some other drugs and substances. We’ve gotten out of the way the fact that w**d isn’t physically addictive like alcohol or ni****ne, but we’ve also questioned addiction itself, and we’ve started to wonder about it in a deeper way, to examine it in a brighter light, so to speak, in order to get to the bottom of what it is and what it really means to a person who’s going through it....

500 WORDS, DAY 44: We’re All Addicted to Something 14/08/2024

Yesterday I was writing about the topic of w**d addiction. I know a lot of people would say w**d isn’t even addictive, and I actually used to think the exact same thing when I started getting high on it, so I honestly don’t blame anyone who believes it. I used to listen to songs like Bone-Thugz’ ‘W**d Song,’ with lyrics like ‘if everybody smoked a blunt, relieved the mind, the world could be a better place’, or watch videos like the famous Bob Marley interview where he labels w**d as ‘the healing of the nation’ and alcohol as ‘the destruction of the nation’ and I would think of these ideas as some great, profound wisdom, something really inspirational and esoteric that the masses weren’t ready to accept yet, but which was real nonetheless....

500 WORDS, DAY 43: Ongoing W**d Addiction 13/08/2024

Yesterday I wrote about my ongoing addiction to w**d, and the different ways I’ve tried to manage it throughout the years. Early in my teenage years, I started smoking w**d daily, and what I really enjoyed the most about it was how much it amplified my inner life, my thoughts as well as my feelings, my innermost desires and motivations; it really inspired me and made me look at life through a deeper lens....

August 11th, 2024. I don’t know if those count as three words, let me check. Yeah, according to Microsoft Word they do count as words. Nice, three words in, yay! 500 WORDS, DAY 41: A Series of Unique Encounters and Experiences 11/08/2024

Life is a series of unique encounters and experiences, and it’s up to us to learn as much as we can from as many of them as we can. I would even say it’s our responsibility, but not because it’s expected of us, or because its’ the right thing to do, or because of anything else like that. It’s our responsibility simply because no one else will do it for us, we are the only ones that it matters to....

500 WORDS, DAY 40: Time Can’t Be Easily Defined 10/08/2024

Yesterday I wrote about time. It’s been a recurring topic all throughout this newest writing experiment of mine, of which today marks the fortieth consecutive day. Time has also been a recurring concern of mine for as long as I can remember. Time; this invisible yet inescapable, incredibly mysterious concept that seems to be totally understood by all and seldom given a second thought, but which is really one the biggest mysteries of our existence....

I’ve been writing about time and about life and death in general, as well as what I think are some of the most important ideas associated with these topics, mainly topics that come up whenever we as humans contemplate life and death. I’ve also been writing a lot about creativity and art, about what it means to be an artist in today’s modern, materialistic world....
