Unfortunately, as some of you may have heard, the wonderful sadly closed its doors for the final time recently, and it's safe to say I was absolutely gutted. The station had provided DRIFT with a radio home for a long time, and the staff were always super supportive with the DRIFT ethos.

For a time, I was unsure if I would get a radio show anywhere else, but not to worry, as local legends have offered me a trial show today! Tune in from 1-2pm today, as I share with you some very exciting new material, as of yet completely unheard amongst the usual downtempo and ambient goodies.

And just like that, we're celebrating 5 years of exploration into the fringes of club music and beyond. To celebrate the momentous occasion, we've invited an absolute legend of the game, up for a special one off party at Expect a slight change in pace as the renowned selector brings his trademark bag of goodies from across the musical spectrum!

Over the last half decade, we've released over 30 mixes of everything from ambient and noise to jazz and soul, we've had listening events and gigs in London, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh and we've had the pleasure of being involved in radio stations .fm and the now sadly closed

There's plenty in store for the next few years, and we can't wait to share the announcements in due time, but for just now you can join us for a proper celebration at Sneaks on the 15th November!

Next up on our Fringe Finale lineup, we have Edinburgh based DJ and producer Eosap. With regular outings across the city under the DBT collective, Eosap is extremely knowledgeable about a range of genres including ambient and minimal and is certain to give us listeners an enthralling journey for his set at Lost in Leith!

Previously releasing music under his name Joe Highet, he also has an upcoming label project in the works, so be sure to keep an eye out for that! We can't wait for him to take the helm on Saturday!

Introducing the first DJ for our unofficial fringe closing party at Lost in Leith: Priminho. Making the journey up from his adopted home down in Sheffield, the melodic distraction host is one half of the seminal Black Beacon Sound record label/shop and has been at the beating heart of music in his local scene as well as on his many radio shows ( , .radio and ) for a number of years.

His deep knowledge of music transfers directly to his label; Black Beacon Sound having released some amazing electronic music by household names such as .vogel and as well as delving into hip-hop and beyond from the likes of Zen the Sharpshooter. It seemed an absolute no brainer to add him to our lineup, with him having recently covered a "Mornings With..." show on Melodic Distraction which blew us away when we first heard it! The 2 hour slot allowed his deft abilities as a selector to shine as he seamlessly weaved together trip hop, downtempo, jazz and electronica.

He'll be playing Lost in Leith from 10pm and warming things up with a relaxed vibe ahead of the party later in the evening, grab a free ticket and get down early to avoid missing him!

After the success of their Listening Lab last month, .dance returns to on Saturday 26th August alongside promotion veterans for a FREE festival closing party unlike any other!

3am license confirmed with a huge range of music genres planned, from ambient and experimental to jazz and rare groove and into dance music from across the globe; all being spun by some of the most exciting DJs from across the UK and beyond right now!

Really happy to be sharing this mix with everyone after been trying to find time to record it for the best part of a year (sorry Kye). It's a big hit of nostalgia this one for me, as I delve into the type of music that first got me hooked on DJing and club culture: disco.

In the hour long mix, I select tracks from playlists long-forgotten on my usb, from chilled out jazz-funk, through lush deep soul cuts to get-up-and-dance disco. Was absolutely great fun to record, thank you so much to Kye for having me!

Cutting his teeth in Aberdeen before recently moving to Glasgow, DJ JAVASCRIPT is a talented producer and DJ focusing on capturing a familiar, nostalgic 90s vibe. Expect tape hiss, ambient breaks and PS1 sound scapes as the Finite Source label head takes control.

Aidan
After a brief stint in London, as well as several months in south America, the wack name is less familiar around Edinburgh these days. However for those who remember, the collective were responsible for some serious bookings across the capital and it's a pleasure to welcome one of the key players behind this, Aidan, down to DRIFT. Expect to hear everything from jazzy Balearic to dreamy shoegaze!

Finally, rounding off proceedings, we're bringing across co-head Tension for a showcase of the weird and wonderful side of UK club and bass music. His album In Cascade is a genuine undiscovered gem of the last few years, bringing ambient soundscapes together with glitchy percussion and beautiful melodies to create a real listening experience. Don't miss this one!

At this point in the night, we'll be clearing more of a dance floor and the listening lab will be transformed into something more. Absolutely no pressure for those who don't want to stay this late, we hope you can find what you're after in the earlier sets! Expect all DJs to jump on at this point for a real varied mix of tracks.

On the 20th july, join us at Lost in Leith for a night of undiluted sonic experimentation, with 4 unique DJs selecting some of the best in cutting-edge ambient, downtempo and leftfield UK club music as part of the first ever DRIFT listening lab.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive with an open mind and should expect to hear a diverse range of genres, with a strong focus being placed on experimental, listening-bar style music. While there will be a small dancefloor cleared towards the end of the gig; there will also be tables, chairs and relaxed areas where guests can chill out and focus purely on the music. We aim to create an open and safe environment where you can listen to curated DJ style sets, free from the constraints of dark clubs and late nights/early mornings. With this in mind, please reach out to us if you have any concerns about accessibility or inclusion.

DJs will each provide 45 min long sets of carefully selected vinyl records and digital releases to satisfy even the most curious listener.

If you've been lucky enough to have been in attendance at these events, you'll be familiar with pulsating energy curated by the Palidrone DJs themselves; something they bring to the fore with their recent transition to the label world and their first two EP releases. Keeping things entirely in house, the self-produced tracks have received wide acclaim and have been played out in clubs across the UK 💫

They're sure to bring some proper energy to the Chinaski's garden in what is looking to be an absolute scorcher of a day, catch them at 8:30!! ☀️☀️☀️

We'd love to take this time to introduce you to your support for the live part of Facta and K-Lone's debut live set as we couldn't think of more fitting people to set the scene for the gig at this Friday!

First up, from the early time of 7pm, is local DJ They've been a pivotal part of the independent music scene across the central belt for a number of years, through their constant involvement in the community station , their own club bookings in both Edinburgh and Glasgow through the fantastic and, recently, their seminal, sold out compilation which includes a familiar name from the lineup: . Xivro is well versed in cross-genre music from across the globe, often spinning the gentlest of ambient and downtempo sounds on their early morning EH-FM show and is sure to warm things up from the get-go. Get down early to avoid disappointment.

Following on from that, we're pleased to present the head of Glasgow vinyl stalwart in . If you've listened to any radio or club sets from DRIFT in the past 4 years, chances are you'll probably have heard an invisible inc track or two, and it's by no coincidence that I've ended up with an ever growing number of their records in my collection! Gordon's own individual output as well as his involvement in underpins the ethos behind the label; with rhythmic, undulating, psychedelic electronic music taking the listener to the periphery of alien worlds. He'll be on just ahead of the headliners from 8pm and has already amassed a selection of records ready for the event! We can't wait to hear what he's got in store!

and up for their first ever (!!) live set on the 2nd June at and starting to get proper excited for it. I've been a huge fan of their output for a long time, and to have them debut their new live show at a DRIFT event is pretty surreal!

Also on the lineup for the early gig is , head of the seminal - a label making up a substantial number of my record collection, and local legend who will be warming up proceedings from the earlier time of 7pm. We also have the supper talented .shake providing visuals for the entire thing which you won't want to miss.

For episode 37, we're delighted to shine the spotlight on talented, Northampton-based DJ, Moose ( ). With residencies on London stations Mode and Voices, he regularly fills the airwaves with forward thinking and exciting uk club sounds, focussing on leftfield music from garage to jungle. Alongside this, he is a skilled producer and boasts a string of excellent releases over the last few years including recent gems on labels Solitude and Profound Sound.

Stepping back slightly from his usual style for this mix, he sticks to the genres he knows well but explores the more chilled out end of the spectrum, with choice selections from artists such as Om Unit and Yoofee. His aim for his contribution to the series was to touch on a Sunday afternoon feeling, using tunes he’s always had but never found an opportunity to play through normal channels such as club and radio. In his own words, not getting to play them as much genuinely improved the mix as it was a lot more fun to mix & was super excited putting the tracklist together, being something different to scheduled programming. This perfectly mirrors the DRIFT philosophy and we're absolutely delighted to be able to share it with you on a Sunday afternoon!

Continuing the DRIFT series in style, episode 36 comes in hot in the form of a longer form mix from Gary. Well versed in blending bass heavy club tracks, he takes a step back to share some of his favourite chilled tracks with us over the course of 90 minutes. During this time, he steers through a truly varied range of music spanning the downtempo range, from blissful electronica, through hip hop instrumentals and vocals, to percussive and emotive tracks from all corners of the globe. Despite the range of genres and style, the mix has a steady flow, the expertly curated tracks are overlayed expertly and the show stands testament to Gary's ability as both a selector and a DJ.

2023 kicks off in a brand new direction for the DRIFT mix series, with talented producer and DJ Ecilant taking charge for an hour of chilled-out hip hop. He superbly blends old and new school tracks from both sides of the Atlantic, drawing for classic vocals and instrumentals as well as seamlessly weaving some of his and his friend's productions throughout. Better late than never!
We have finally started the upload process for some of the live sets we recorded last year, over on the brand new drift YouTube channel.

First up is the ever-talented selector behind the seminal Leeds ambient night ThinkTank, Padawan Sound. He started off proceedings way back in June 2022 for our Sunday Sessions night and brought with him a captivating selection of records, field recordings and deep, textured, ambient tracks to fill his hour slot.
