A beautiful tribute from Trina, Cammy's sister.

A Sister's Love Letter My Sister My sister is my heart. She opens doors to rooms I never knew were there, Breaks through walls I don't recall building. She lights my darkest corner...

From Cammy Smith
6 hours ago via mobile

This August I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Things moved very quickly and I flew to Tucson, AZ for treatment. I have completed two cycles of chemotherapy and will receive one more treatment on Dec 5 before having surgery in January. If all goes well with surgery I will receive three more doses of chemotherapy over three months. The good news is that I was able to acquire cancer insurance through the state of Alaska. Because of your generosity I am able to live near the facility where I am being treated.

Which brings me to the reason I am writing this letter. I would like to thank everyone who donated to the auction fund raiser that was put on for me to help raise money. I would also like to thank all of those who came to the fundraiser and gave so generously. I was overwhelmed by the community support. I truly believe that Ketchikan has the most generous, loving and caring people I have ever ment. I am so proud to call this my home. The money that was donated has helped me to focus on getting well, rather on the financial burden. My family and I once again would like to thank everyone. I can't wait to recover and return home. Thank you and bless you all Cammy

Tonight reminds me of why I am proud to be a Ketchikanite! So many amazing people came out to show their support for Cammy and Martin. There was a great turnout - about 350 people. We raised over $30,000! The highest bid item was the chance to shave Martin's head! Thank you Ketchikan for showing your support. A CURE FOR CAMMY was a success!
