Mount Pulag July Hike with Typhoon Carina
Our July Hike to Mt.Pulag summit turned into a Memorable Adventure with Carina the Typhoon: An Expectation vs. Reality Experience.
While others imagined the perfect hike, we lived the reality. It's a tale worth sharing - especially the part where we forged new friendships with strangers, and a lovely lady had an encounter with a brave lone hiker along the way.
Lesson learned: Schedule your hike between January towards the end of summer.

Taraw Caves and Peak | San Rafael, Puerto Princesa City
Our Lenten adventure at Taraw Peak and Caves in San Rafael, Puerto Princesa City.
This is the kind of hike we wouldn't repeat. Not the hike itself but our ill preparation due to incomplete information. We assumed a 6:00 AM start would have us back down by lunchtime at 11AM, so we packed light β only pandesal for breakfast, no lunch and 500ml of water each. To our great surprise, the hike ended up taking a grueling 8-9 hours. Thanks to our guide.
This was far more challenging than a leisurely Magarwak trek. The ascent included a harrowing 25-meter climb up a vertical rock face, completely devoid of safety gear like climbing harnesses or ropes. But fueled by adrenaline, we pushed ourselves beyond our perceived limits. We didn't choose to quit, but we took the risk. By God's grace, we were home safe at 6 in the evening.
