Transcribed a little between lessons. Still working on the shift in harmony on the fourth repetition. 😬
I currently have openings for new private students! If you or someone has ever wanted to learn guitar, music theory, writing/arranging I would love to help you reach your goals. I teach all ages and all skill levels so wherever you may be on your musical journey, I'm happy to help you get to where you want to be.
If you're someone who has a lot of time off in the summer or someone with children who are off for the summer, what better way to spend your time than learning something new? I run regular deals for new students and referrals. As things open up, I'm happy to do either in person or remote lessons based on your comfort level. All my rates and relevant information regarding my teaching/musical experience can be found on my website.
Please share if you can! It helps out quite a bit.
Just some early evening melodies.
Been shedding some Chick lately.
This run was easy to transcribe but deceptively difficult to play.
*obviously* I'm digging the new Lake Street Dive. I will probably have Hypotheticals stuck in my head for the rest of my life.
Had some fun trying to channel my inner on the cover we did with our good friend .music.
Haven't heard it yet? Go to our page and check out the full thing!
Letting Go - Andrew York
Happy to be playing some classical guitar again.
Thank you to for the wonderful instrument and the new bridge!

Have You Heard - Pat Metheny
Pretty happy with the progress I’ve made on Bach’s G Minor presto from violin sonata bwv. 1001. Still lots of stuff to polish up, but the piece is memorized and generally feels pretty comfortable at this tempo! Fun trying this flat picked too.
New cover upon the page! One of my favorite Rush tunes, Bravado. Here's a clip of the solo I took over it.
If you want to hear the whole thing, give us a follow. 🙏
Another piece of a tune I started writing a few weeks ago.
At the moment, this seemed a little too much like American Football's Never Meant, but I still like this version a lot, so I'll probably keep it around.
Here's a solo I improvised for a cover of the Deep Purple tune "Soldier of Fortune," the full cover of which can be found on the page. Definitely channeling my inner Mikael Akerfeldt on this one. Check it out if you want some re-harmed Richie Blackmore goodness.
A little Crosby, Stills, and Nash cover I threw together a couple weeks back.
Full version is available on the page. Give us a follow! I'll be posting covers every week (mostly singer/writer based stuff with some tentative collabs in the future).

Some snow day fingerstyle vibes. Shout out to for the tuning recommendation.
Should I keep it instrumental or write vocals for it? Let me know!
Playing some old tunes for the first time in a minute. Forgot that I was a whole step higher (ouch) so I had to channel my inner for the last chorus. Really excited about the new material, but this is one of the first tunes I wrote that I was ever really proud of. Give us a follow if you wanna hear more tunes, new and old alike! We’re on all the streaming services too, so you know what to do. 😉
Been neglecting some of my metal playing lately, so I decided to revisit my solo from last single Triumph of Mars. I miss playing music with my bandmates dearly and it feels great to revisit these tunes.
-Here's a little clip of some new music I've been working on.
If there's been one good thing about 2020 (at least in my own life), it's been the opportunity to write like crazy. I'm very excited to have so many new tunes that we'll be starting to record very soon! Give us a follow if you wanna keep more up to date on the progress of that.
Struggling to find a gift for someone you care about this holiday season?
Lessons are a great gift for the music lovers in your life, regardless of their age or experience, and good news! I still have some openings in my schedule for new students.
Even better news, through the Dec. 31st, I'll be offering 2 free lessons for new and returning students when you book three or more lessons. Additionally, I'll be doubling my referral freebies, so if you're a student who knows someone who might be interested in starting guitar lessons, send them my way and both of you will get 2 free lessons!
If you're interested or have any questions, shoot me a message or visit my website (link in bio) and fill out the contact form there.

Got the stems for the latest album "Shore" just so I could throw a solo on Jara.
In all seriousness, it's been very interesting checking out all the layers on this album and using it to help develop my ear for arranging and mixing. It really is an amazing chance to look inside one of my favorite records of the year and not only appreciate it more deeply, but also use it as a tool to hone my own skills as a writer and arranger. Thanks !
to March of 2018 with Writing in the Skies.
Saying that I'm missing live music and playing with other humans would be an understatement. Hope you're all coping as best you can and staying safe!
Happy friday!
Excited to give the new Tigran Hamasyan record a listen today. Here's a little transcription I did of the first tune off the album, "Levitation 21."
Here's a little clip of a crosspicking etude I wrote a few days ago.
Want the sheet music or looking to dive deep on your picking technique one on one? Shoot me a message to set something up.
Congratulations to Kevin Sanders on winning the lesson raffle! I'll be reaching out soon to set something up.
In the meantime, I still have lots of openings for private students of all levels. If you didn't win the raffle but are still interested in a lesson, feel free to direct message this page or email me at [email protected] for more information or to set up a lesson!
Happy birthday to David Crosby!
Guinevere- Crosby, Stills, & Nash
Good news!
To celebrate my birthday, I'll be giving a way a free lesson! To enter, just comment and tag a friend who you think might be interested in the giveaway, and I'll randomly choose a winner next Friday, August 14th.
Best of luck!
It’s Bruce Dickinson’s birthday today!
Anyone who knows me knows how important of an influence Iron Maiden was (and continues to be) on my musical development. To celebrate, I quickly “transcribed” (emphasis on quick, as you might be able to tell from the difference in my version of the faster run) the solo to one of my favorite Maiden tunes, “The Evil That Men Do.”
Happy birthday, Bruce! Thanks for all the years of inspiration and enjoyment.
A little rough around the edges performance of Tango en Skai by Roland Dyens.
I haven’t played classical guitar with any regularity since college, but this is one of the pieces I’ve learned that’s always fun to come back to.
Looking to learn some classical guitar? Music theory? Paul Gilbert licks? Hit the link in my bio for more info about lessons!
Hey folks,
Thanks to all of you have like this page! I aim for it to be a resource for materials and a source for information on all my current musical endeavors.
I’ve started experimenting with some of the concepts from Mick Goodrich’s voice leading almanac, beginning with this ascending cycle 2 seventh chord progression in C Major.
Cycle chord progressions involve moving up or down a chord scale by a specific interval (in this case, up the scale by seconds C-Dm-Em-etc.). Where this gets really crazy is that you can ascend through the chord scale and descend in pitch, which is what I’m doing in this little clip. Additionally, I’m trying to maintain as many common tones as I can between each chord and spreading out the voicings so I can get these very cool spatial sounds.
Interested in learning more? Does all of this sound like gibberish? Hit the link in my bio or shoot me a DM to book a lesson!
