At the Wisconsin Capitol today to address next steps for closing Walmart’s Dark Store Tax Loophole with State Senator Janis Ringhand Chris Larson, Rep. Tod Ohnstad, and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1473

Did you know that Walmart and other retailers can use nearby empty, abandoned, or “dark” buildings to lower their own property assessments and pay less property taxes? This not only shifts the tax burden onto homeowners and other property taxpayers, but it decreases funding for public schools. And it’s happening ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY!

Coming on the heels of former State Senator Judy Robson's endorsement of my candidacy for the 15th Senate District, I am thrilled to announce that I have also officially earned the endorsement of EMILY's List!

“Women in Wisconsin have been under attack, from forcing women to undergo invasive ultrasounds to repealing laws that ensure a woman receives equal pay for equal work. Thankfully, they have elected officials like Rep. Janis Ringhand on the frontlines, fighting to protect their rights,” said EMILY’s List Political Director Denise Feriozzi. “Janis has been a tremendous advocate in the State Assembly and Wisconsin needs her leadership on these issues in the State Senate.”
