502nd SOG Scenario Paintball Team

Officially formed in October 2010 as a scenario paintball team. Many of the 502nd's members have been playing paintball for 25+ years. Many of us have played those years together. We play with Honor, Safety, and to promote the wonderful sport of paintball.

An unexpected award! We played our hearts out as usual but had no thought of even being eligible as we understood awards were all generated based on the RKE application points mechanic - which we did not use. So Wow! This was very cool! Thank you to Sherwood, our Captain, Roger Weber and all the other members of the Royal Navy!

Why mention it? I’ve been around long enough to remember playing in the woods during the last big event. Millions upon millions of cicadas screaming make it all but impossible to make noise or communicate in the woods. They fly about and often confuse motion queues you might normally pick up. You occasionally get one in your mask or on side of your head and then They sound off and scare the bejezus out of you. Crawling about in a dense area can be...gross.
Basically it’s a unique experience! Not suggesting you avoid it- they can’t hurt you- but it changes the game.
So if you are in an area affected by Brood X, get out and play in the woods this summer. You won’t get this chance for another 17 years!!

A changing of the guard...
Announcing Roger Shaw is stepping down from the 502nd Council! Roger has been an integral part of the development and management of the team as well as being one of the Founders way back in 2010 and will continue to provide valuable opinion and guidance going forward!
And...
Please welcome Ben Shaw to the Council, filling Rogers' vacant position!
Ben brings a lot of experience to the team as a leader both from another paintball team and his private life as a business owner and active Marine.
Thank you for your long time and continuing service Roger, and a big welcome to Ben!

Here's the final schedule for the 502nd!
Some usual places didn't make the cut as they have yet to post dates and several places are stepping on/near each other so we've had to be selective. Several events at the bottom are noted and not planned BUT we may still hit them. As with last year, schedule will be more fluid and adaptable!
A comment to fields: WHY NO EVENTS IN MAY, JUNE, AUGUST? These are prime months! Everyone wants to pack together in September/October which hurts EVERYONE's attendance...!

Schedule coming together for 2021! Some venues not posting event dates soon enough and will get skipped this year - so advice to field owners - get your events posted before mid-January! Gone are the days when you can wait until February and still expect teams to attend!
10 year Anniversary!
This month (October) we celebrate 10 years as a team! What started as a group of guys who played together for 20+ years deciding to make a small team "just for us" has developed into something much larger than we had ever conceived! Originally just six of us, we've since gone on to a lifetime roster of 61 players - 19 of which are currently active and the team has amassed a sizeable chunk of awards! The 74 awards we've received over the past decade have each been humbling and we have never expected, planned for, politicked or otherwise gone out of our way to get a single one of them - they've all been earned by hardcore play and skill.
We never set out for all this to happen - the deep roster, the awards, the teammates, the brotherhood - and every time we think about what has developed with this team and the players involved, we are overwhelmingly humbled at what it has turned into!
We look forward to the next 10 years whatever may come!
