👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽👏🏿 S/o to our 2024 executive leadership team! They’ve done a great job leading and serving. A huge thank to them for their dedication to the movement!
On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, which should have allowed women the right to vote.
However, despite the prohibits states from denying the right to vote on the basis of s*x, Black women and other women of color were still unable to vote until 1965 when the Voting Rights Act was passed.
Black women and other WOC played a major role in securing women’s right to vote. Today, we honor the sacrifice, actions and often lifelong commitments they made for us. And we will remember them as we go to at the polls this year!
📣 A HUGE THANK YOU to for powering our advocacy and voting PSA featuring our leaders and members. 🗳️✊🏽Our voices matter more now than ever.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of one of the most important laws in our nation’s history: the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It made it illegal to discriminate against people based on race, color, religion, s*x or national origin. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the bill into law on July 2, 1964 after courageous, tireless leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and our very own Whitney M. Young, Jr. worked in coalition with marchers, protestors, activists, and advocates to push for legal, systemic changes to root out segregation and discrimination.
This present moment requires us to mobilize, collaborate, agitate, and advocate in similar ways. 60 years later, the rights and freedoms we hold dear are under threat from extremists seeking to weaken and dismantle democracy.
Get the full breakdown of the law & its current implications in our recent State of Black America report: stateofblackamerica.org.

Exactly one year ago today, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a dangerous law that effectively makes it illegal to organize diversity, equity & inclusion programs at public universities in Texas.
One year later on this dark anniversary, we refuse to bow down. We need you to pick up the phone and call his office to express your resistance to attacks against DEI efforts. Our voices are stronger and louder together.

🚨 Texas set a dangerous precedent when it banned diversity efforts at public universities last summer.
This cannot and must not be the blueprint for other states. is part of a larger effort to dismantle initiatives and roll back decades of hard-won progress.

Shame on you, Gov. Greg Abbott.
Texas has one of the most sweeping bans on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs at public universities. And it’s no thanks to Senate Bill 17, which Gov. Abbott signed into law last summer.
We reject & resist because it sets a dangerous precedent for other states and the state of education overall. Students and faculty deserve better.
