Today marks 19 Years around the sun 🌞 for my first born .

Time has flown by with a blink of an eye. Especially fast in the last 5-7 years. Looking back, it’s hard to believe we had 14 days whole years together just me and you, Kylei 🌺. My littlest best friend. My other soulmate. My forever Adventure Buddy. Though our lives have shifted, we have another member to our clan (Lyla), and we lost a member (Lola Carmen) our lives have been rich BEYOND measure. Kylei, I treasure every day with you.

Fun fact: I went into labor on 2/22 with Kylei in an ice storm ⛈ much like the one today- but much worse. I labored naturally for 20 hours, with no doctor and the same nurse. There weren’t salt trucks at the time and no one could get in or out of the hospital. The doctor arrived only in time to catch her and cut the cord.

Happy Birthday to the BEST daughter a mother could ask for. I’m incredibly proud of the woman you’ve become. You’re intelligent, kind, thoughtful, compassionate to everyone, responsible & most of all you always do what’s right- even when it’s hard. You’re so talented too.

DALLAS, TX – Rebel Athletic has partnered with Live Nation and Faculty Inc. as the Presenting Sponsor for the Cheer Live 2022 Tour, created by Monica Aldama and Andy Cosferent, and featuring the stars of Netflix’s award-winning hit docuseries ‘Cheer’.  The Cheer Live tour is scheduled for 38 cities this summer in the US, and will include stops at iconic venues including Radio City Music Hall (NYC), Toyota Music Factory (Dallas), and Zappos Theater (Vegas).
 This brand new tour is a one-of-a-kind concept, where cheerleaders are the stars and are celebrated for their athleticism and artistry.  Confirmed talent includes:  Gabi Butler, Morgan Simianer, Madison Brum, Angel Rice, Cassadee Miller Dunlap, Gillian Rupert, Faith Gatlin, James Thomas, Kory Little, Keyshawn LeFlore, Dustin Velasquez, Devonte “Dee” Joseph, and Jeron Hazelwood.

Rebel Athletic will provide couture wardrobe for the entire cast of the show, as well as gifts and prizes for VIP attendees.  Expect to see a curated collection of Rebel-branded products for sale inside the venues at all 38 tour stops, plus a special Rebel Interactive Museum Experience at 5 select stops.  Team sales and a special pre-sale will be available to existing Rebel Athletic gym and school customers through Rebel’s US-based sales team, starting next week.  Rebel’s annual Summer Casting Calls will also happen in conjunction with several Cheer Live tour stops this summer, and will include the Rebel Dream Boutique with exclusive drop items and surprise appearances.

Raising lil Lionesses, I have never had family pictures taken until this year. My dear, talented friend Kristen Glass Sanchez captured the moment. ♥️ Just the right timing… she made us GLOW ✨☀️.

Even though my ex-husband and I aren’t together, but knowing he has never had a family photo either, I invited him in on the action. We decided we wanted to give our girls the gift of having one family photo of all of us to look back on. Realizing that so much time has flown by now that Kylei is in college. (It’s a big deal all around. Lol.)

A very rare picture of me wearing white, make up and my hair up 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

I went to the island for work…. What I came home with was a new understanding about 1/2 of where I came from. Why my grandmother did the things she did, why she loved bright colors and painted our houses as such, wore “weird” patterns, why we sewed our own Barbie clothes and bikinis, why we never ran the air conditioning, etc. All of these things seemingly insignificant to most… But I grew up in a predominantly Anglo neighborhood and we stuck out like sore thumbs. I used to pray at night that God would take my tan skin and dark hair and replace it with milky white skin, blonde hair and blue eyes so I would look like my friend Morgan and my cousins… “oh! And don’t forget the dimple, I would pray.”

My time in Curaçao, it really set in that part of my heritage is part Afro Caribbean, (my great-great grandmother). I realized my grandmother showed us what her mother showed her. It made sense why my Anglo great great grandfather went to island and fell in love with a woman with sun kissed skin, why he loved the island and why they had 12 babies. I fell in love with the islands, too, the people. And for a second I thought about how I could make it and stay.

With the help of my friend Teresa, who was my island photographer (🤣) and who listened to my meltdown 🦋, I came home with a new love of who I am, my place in this world, my other-ness brought together by love, found a love for the body that gave me two gorgeous girls, and how my tummy scar is a reminder that I cheated death during delivery. My body is what it is and under construction, continuing to work to be better in all aspects.

Happy National Daughters Day!!!!

I’ve been playing Elle King radio for days now and have always been a fan of Rob Schneider’s. Maybe I unknowingly have been manifesting this ✨😆

He is the NICEST friggin guy. I also told him my family/mom loves him because he’s part Filipino like us and he said, “where’s your mom?” And wanted to say hello. So “HI MOM!” This one is for you!!!!! Carmelita Corpuz Rees 🇵🇭 Gotta go… wheels up 🛫

My baby is a baby no more. I debated on posting them individually, but I decided you had to see the whole progression of the magic she created with my dearest friend !!!!

I am BEYOND proud of the woman she’s become. Her super power is her strength and courage to be kind, vulnerable, and loving to everyone. Her curious nature in the arts, languages and culture is so unique for a kid her age. I’m happy I let her join the circus, at her request go attend a Chinese Immersion school, play every music instrument known to man, let her run wild in the rainforests as a baby, and drive and hike through them as an adult. I love you baby girl.

I don’t know who needed a this today, but I feel spirit led 🦋 to drop this off right here on my main page instead of my others, as a static post. Sending love to you my friends! 💗 Keep grindin’, hustling, loving and dreaming!!! Sit in gratitude for all you have done and accomplished good and bad…. There’s always a lesson- find the silver lining to all & give thanks to it.

Self-care can be small and little things where you’re mindful of self... some days it’s meditation, or just brushing your hair and teeth or the 3 minutes we got in the bathroom by ourselves (treasured time, I know. 😆) Some days it’s the few hours where we get some alone time & loved on by some talented artists 🎰!!

I found this gem of me and my old school crew circa 1998 ay Chinese New Year. That’s me in the back with a old school Toni & Guy cut that Im pretty sure Joseph Marzioli did. Lol. I worked at a salon called Ciao Bella and was a B*girl on that side, donning a lot of Adidas or could be found at The Church in a lot of black and a floor length leather coat. 🖤

I was blessed to get to work with the most PHENOMENAL woman these last three days, who has literally impacted my life in the best way. I will never forget my time with Host, Author & Heiress Mitzi Perdue.

Production hired me to make her over & I left today with her having transformed ME on the inside.

Such a classy, kind and an all around dynamic woman. We had some of the best conversations and she gave the most simple, yet profound mentoring advice and encouragement.

Mitzi, I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. 🌻🌼✨
