Until Lo**ta is Home
Drone footage captured on May 10th showing Tokitae/Lo**ta languishing in her barren tank. This type of footage validates the inadequate size of her surroundings. Just imagine having to exist here for 50 years! This is NOT living this is surviving, only her wonderful spirit has kept her alive. It's shameful and it's heartbreaking! There's a comprehensive retirement plan waiting if only they would let her go.

Otter Loses Limb at Living Shores Aquarium. Insufficient barriers and chain link dividers allowed stressed-out otters to fight. One was injured so severely her forelimb had to be amputated.
"Violations show why aquarium should stay closed"
Published in the Conway Daily Sun — May 1, 2020
To the Editor:
When Living Shores Aquarium at Story Land in Glen opened for business in November 2019, we thought it was a bad idea and said so. Just four months later, the aquarium was written up for Animal Welfare Act violations.
During a USDA inspection on March 4, the aquarium received two citations, both involving a failure to keep animals safely separated. Insufficient barriers and chain link dividers allowed stressed-out animals to fight through the gaps. The more serious of the two violations resulted in an Asian small-clawed otter being injured so severely that her forelimb had to be amputated.
The inspector reported that the otters “vocalize very loudly and vigorously,” adding that, “loud vocalizations and aggressive behavior are indicators of behavioral stress.” In the wild, otters establish complex social structures, with relationships often changing over time. When we keep wild animals in captivity, this natural order is easily disrupted.
Due to the pandemic, Living Shores Aquarium is currently closed to the public. We are sorry for the hardship they face and for those who may have lost jobs, but our opinion of the operation remains the same: wild animals belong in the wild. Wild animals are not here for our entertainment, and encouraging close encounters with them also drives demand for the illegal wildlife pet trade.
We encourage families to find other ways to appreciate wild animals — from afar.

Palace Entertainment, owners of the Miami Seaquarium, Story Land and Water Country, is opening a new aquarium in Glen, New Hampshire. This facility, like many Palace Entertainment owned locations, will exploit animals for profit. One of its main attractions will be the display of Asian small-clawed river otters . These animals are highly social and intelligent. In the wild they live in family groups of up to 15 members. The six otters that will be on display come from a facility in California called Nurtured by Nature.
In addition to otters there will be other displays of animals and fish exploited for entertainment. All of the animals at this aquarium deserve to be free and living a wild natural life. You can also go here to fill out a comment: https://www.livingshores.com/hours-and-directions/contact-us

Say NO to DEW Haven
Success!
We were able to have our petition hand delivered to Discovery Communications in Silver Spring MD! This is a multi-billion dollar corporation and we finally got their attention! They even hired police officers to be present because they wanted to be prepared for us. There were at least 6 bike officers and a few patrol officers as well. Very nice people! A couple even took our leaflets.
I was informed by the lead officer that Discovery had arranged for someone to come out and retrieve the petition and indeed that did happen! It was put into their physical hands!
Now is not the time to relent! Please post on their fb pages that you do not want this show to air due to the violations, abuse, breeding, and selling. Tell them about Emily, tell them that DEW Haven (Yankee Jungle) absolutely REFUSES to say where the animals that leave their property go!
