I met Dave last week when looking at a dinghy he was selling. A couple of days later I came back to take his portrait. It was a dark and rainy morning but it was perfect for me, since I wanted a very honest and simple shot of him at his workshop. We talked about his ship building days, and his knife making process. Once in a while I would take a photo, but it was not at all about that, it was about getting to know him, and the photos would just be a reminder of this time. Before I left, he presented with a beautiful Damascus steel knife and said, “ I wanted to give you this knife because it represents the best that I can do” for him he knew I was giving my best for taking his photograph just for the love of it, not expecting anything in return. I am honored to have one of your pieces Dave, I’ll be back for that beer!

For me there is something special about black and white, it cuts through layers, and simplifies the image, at the same time it gives your content elegance and visual depth. Too shoot in Seattle in the middle of Fall with all the amazing colors all around, was for sure a commitment for me, but I am so happy we did. Victoria, her voice, her song, brings all those missing colors to the lyrics of her song. Shot and directed right here in Seattle

Tomorrow I am going to have the pleasure to introduce you to a very cool Seattle artist, AMANDALA. She gave me complete freedom in the making of her music video, not sure what she was thinking! :-) but with that said, she became my favorite person, and friend. Thats how it went. she has this cool Bjork, Kate Bush vibe, but in her own way. The concept for the video slowly took shape as we shot. Our production was minimal, one camera, no quadcopter, no hand held gimbal, no crew, just Seattle as our backdrop, and a story that slowly took life as we went. I can't wait for you to listen to her, and see the video tomorrow!
