Dear Bungay Lake Members,
First, I would like to apologize for the lack of communication regarding today's lake treatment. The board is currently in the process of transitioning, and unfortunately, the lake treatment notice slipped through the cracks.
For those who have not attended our annual meetings, today's treatment is part of our ongoing invasive w**d maintenance program and poses no harm to people or animals. The posted signs requesting no swimming, boating, or fishing are intended to ensure the safety of the Water & Wetland treatment team, not due to any health concerns.
As the newly elected president, my goal is to maintain transparency and open communication with all lake members. I acknowledge that I failed in this instance, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused.
For your reassurance, you can contact Water & Wetland at 888-493-8526 to confirm that the water poses no risk. Moving forward, I will strive to provide advance notice about upcoming treatments. While it is safe to swim and be in the lake during and immediately after these treatments, we ask that you avoid the treatment areas to ensure the safety of the Water & Wetland team.

Based on a favorable forecast over the next couple weeks, the Lake Level Advisory Committee consulted with the Fish Hatcher management to close the dam on Friday, February 3rd, 2023. As you may have noticed, water levels have already begun to rise. We encourage all residents to clean their beach areas and secure any items that may be impacted by the rising water. The lake level committee has recommended a full drawdown for November 1st. The hatchery has confirmed they will start late next week!
This will flush the nutrients in the lake and hopefully reset some of the algae we saw this year. It will take a couple weeks to drawdown please plan to get your boats out accordingly!
