Fruit, herbs, and sweetener, maybe even a little carbonation, mixed with a bit of intention and frozen makes for a cool treat with bit of everyday magick in this summer heat

Traditionally made with acorn or corn flour, and wild muscadine grapes. Grape dumplings are a staple food from pre colonization. Most nations throughout the Appalachia and surrounding areas have some version of this dish. Bring together to form stiff dough. Pinch off quarter sized balls and drop into boiling grape juice. Let cook for 10-13 minutes. Enjoy!

Mothers, and birth givers should be honored everyday. Not just once or twice a year to serve a capitalist agenda. It should also be stated that just bc you gave birth that doesn’t make you a parent. You actually have to be present in your children’s lives.

I wear red on May 5th to remind others that we are still here, still fighting for our lives, still looking for our stolen families. Indigenous women, children and two spirit are most at risk, 4 out of 5 have experienced violence.

And as the turning of the wheel continues we open our hearts to the beginning of summer!!

⚠️Proceed with caution⚠️ Porcupines represent a seemingly harmless situation that can turn quickly. Also a sign to protect oneself. Perhaps you are or need to act prickly to shield your soft heart. Use porcupine quills or bones when casting for protection against enemies or to stop someone from inflicting pain. Carry or wear porcupine quills or quill art for protection from negative influences.

Elders can be toxic. Women can be abusive. Chiefs can be deceivers. Two Spirits can be unkind. Activists can be insincere. We shouldn’t put people on a pedestal simply because they hold a particular title. Respect is earned, not given. Being traditional is meaningless if you don’t live that lifestyle. We have to start showing the younger generations that we have to live a certain way to truly be respected rather than simply holding a position.

On this Mother Earth Day, let us remember that she didn't just give birth to us - she gave birth to the entire universe.
