🙂🙂Searching Kansas City Call articles as part of a history project, I realize that Howard University is discussed regularly as if it has its own beat. Apparently, in April of 1927, then President Mordecai Johnson visited Kansas City, spoke, and got the alumni here to agree to donate more than $3,000 to help fund Howard's new medical school.
Among the donors listed giving are Dr. Thomas Unthank, the first black doctor to come to Kansas City from Howard University medical school in 1898, and Dr. William A. Love, who established a successful practice in Kansas City, Kansas in the mid 1910's.
