Hey, friend! I’m Monica Veles (VELL-ess), a portrait photographer for seniors, couples and families. Send me an email at [email protected]!

Happy Valentine’s Day!💝💌 Let it be a lovely day spent with the one you love the most or make it a self-pampering day and get yourself a treat!🥰
It’s Super Bowl Sunday🏈 Are you rooting for the 49ers or Taylor Swift’s boyfriend?
I absolutely loved shooting this extended family session! Ali and her family were so kind and fun to be around — I left their session feeling so lucky and thankful that I get to work with such wonderful clients! It was hard to pick just a few photos to share from their session, but check out the blog to see more.☺️

Here’s a life update I’ve been meaning to share…I’ll be spending the next 3 months in Madrid, Spain as an au pair and I’m sharing the details on the blog about why I decided to do this! The past few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind between being sick (over my birthday weekend too, love that for me🤪) and this new adventure coming together very quickly.
I won't be shooting sessions from February-April, but my calendar will open back up in May! Until then, I’m so excited to share more about my au pair journey and life in Madrid!🇪🇸

A few of my favorites from Jenna and Michael’s engagement session💍 They kicked off their session with a champagne toast, included their sweet little dog (who posed perfectly for the camera😄) in their portraits and wrapped up repping their favorite football team. It’s always a great time when I get to work with such kind clients like these two!

Last night I wrapped up a 2-week trip in Europe, so today I’m starting to get back to editing, going through my email, and all of the things!
It was my first time flying out of the country and the jet lag destroyed me😵💫 but I had the most amazing time exploring Switzerland, Germany, Austria and England!
I want to share all the details with you so I’ll be posting a trip recap.😊 Where do you want to see it? Stories, on the blog, both? Let me know!
Can I pick a favorite image from Katy’s grad session? The answer is absolutely not because I’m obsessed with the entire gallery!😍 Check out the blog to see more from her session:

I post on my story here and there and realized I haven’t posted on my feed in a million years.🤪 So hi…I’m still taking pictures, have been working on some things behind the scenes and am enjoying this summer weather that I never want to end. If you’ve stayed through my impromptu posting hiatus, thanks for sticking around!😄 I’ll be sharing more soon!
Wishing all the moms and mother figures a very Happy Mother’s Day!💐💕
It was short-lived, but the sun finally came back and it felt like we were all thriving!😄 Next week, I’ll be catching a flight to somewhere warmer…I can’t wait!☀️
Happy First Day of Spring!🌷
Just dreaming about all the spring flowers that will be popping up soon…anyone else?💭🌷
I had the best time celebrating my birthday last weekend!🥳 The weekend included a little DIY photoshoot, wine tasting at Chateau Ste. Michelle, shopping, and lots of good food! Can’t wait to see what this year brings.☺️
I feel so lucky to get to work with wonderful couples like Hannah and Alex!🥰 Check out their engagement session on the blog:
Alex + Hannah | Engaged — Monica Veles Photography A winter engagement session in Gig Harbor and Chambers Bay.
A little late, but Happy New Year!😊 I took a break from social media during the holidays to relax, and I’ve taken this year slow so far. I don’t usually make New Years resolutions, but I have a list of things to work on this year, like trying to be more present. (Anyone else always thinking about what’s next instead of what’s happening right now?🙋🏽♀️) I’m excited to share more of my work, adventures and behind the scenes of my business with you! Cheers to 2023!🎉
A couple of sneak peeks from Hannah and Alex’s engagement session🥰 Hannah was the winner of my giveaway and we lucked out with a rain-free session day. She and Alex made my job so fun and easy! If it wasn’t for the absolutely freezing cold wind, I could’ve photographed them all day!🤍
Feelin thankful for YOU! Whether you've been here since the beginning or are new here, I truly am grateful that you support this dream of mine. If you've been a client, have referred someone to me, or are here just to follow along, thank you! It really means a lot. When I think about my business, I think about how lucky I am to have a community of people who support and believe in me and my small business. I have amazing people in my life, and I'm endlessly thankful. I know it sounds especially cliché during this time of year, but thank you for being here. It means the world.🤍 Tell me, what are you feeling thankful for this year?
Swipe to see some examples of Instagram vs. reality😂 This sweet family was so fun to work with!🤍 See more on the blog at www.monicaveles.com/blog/family-session-at-wilkinson-farm-park

In my parents’ attic are photo albums filled with old family photographs. Sorting through them, I see my Mexican maternal grandparents from Nuevo León with their six children, my Puerto Rican paternal grandfather and grandmother who’s parents migrated from Ponce, Puerto Rico to work in the sugar cane fields in Honolulu, Hawaii, and my great-uncle’s military portrait. These are more than moments captured in time—they are stories that document my family’s history. I never get tired of looking through those albums and asking my parents about my relatives from generations ago.
The ability to freeze a moment in time with a camera has always fascinated me. I was beyond excited when I got my first camera in high school. I would photograph my family, friends and pets. When I found my love for hiking, packing my camera was as essential as my first-aid kit.
My mission when photographing clients is that they will cherish the captured moments, share them with their loved ones and pass them on for generations to come. I’m not only capturing images for my client to treasure—I’m documenting a moment in their life that their future children, grandchildren and others can treasure as well.
Photographs are stories that have the ability to bring people together. It is truly an honor that I get to be the person behind the camera.

I love black and white images🤍🖤
There’s a new session on the blog and I’m very excited to share it! I had so many favorites from Hannah’s senior session at Fort Steilacoom! Check out the blog post at www.monicaveles.com/blog/senior-portrait-session-fort-steilacoom-park
It’s crazy to think that it was 2 years ago that I finished the Certificate in Photography program at UW and not long after I started my business. Time really does fly! So grateful for everything I’ve learned and all the support I’ve had along the way.💕
Wishing a very Happy Father’s Day to all dads and father figures! I hope you feel extra loved and appreciated!💙
Sneak peeks from this stunning senior’s session yesterday! I had so much fun working with Hannah and can’t wait to edit the rest of her images.😍
