Franktuary was founded in downtown Pittsburgh in 2004, when college friends Megan and Tim shelved their degrees and start- ed slinging franks from the basement of historic Trinity Cathedral. The duo have been serving their signature frankfurters for over a decade, topping them with locally sourced regional and ethnic condiments. An update: Hi there, Ben from Franktuary. I apologize for the radio silence.
I wanted to take a moment and answer some questions weโve been receiving.

In short, the truck is not running this year.
As some of you may know, midway through our busiest time last year the engine caught fire on the highway. The team reacted fast and were not injured, but the engine, however, needed entirely replaced, effectively ending our season early.
After finally receiving the truck back in the winter months with a brand new engine, it was stolen right from under our noses earlier this year. We went through the legal system to recover it, however, the truck was critically damaged yet again in the theft and needed repair.
๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ค?
Contrary to rumor, no, the truck was not repossessed during the unfortunate closing of another business. The former owners owned the truck outright, and Iโve owned it outright since the end of 2023.
Swipe right for the proof. For you loyal fans, that photo and posing with todayโs Trib isnโt for you. Itโs to help set the record straight amongst the wild west that is the internet.

The airport location closed during the Pandemic. They had no interest in us re-opening.

Full transparency, weโre likely going to be selling the truck.
Yeah, I know after all of that, selling the truck? Ridiculous, right? No.
I fell in love with Franktuary in Lawrenceville when it was a brick and mortar. I grabbed Franktuary when it was for sale out of love for the brand and the good times I had back then.
No discredit to any of the legacy of the truck, but I strongly believe Franktuary is best served out of a brick and mortar with a full menu. Looking to the future, that is the direction weโre pursuing.
We donโt have a timeline at the moment. As we continue our planning, we may continue to be a bit sparse on social media, and we appreciate your patience.
We hope to see you again soon.
