Things I love about summer: beautiful flowers from the yard, trying to gather enough chamomile to make even one cup of tea, delicious vegetables from Jenny Jack Farm, and sweet, beautiful kids going to weddings. Summer is fun. 🌞

Fun weekend with Bobby Britton!

Even though I grew up 30 minutes away I had never been to Chewacla State Park. We took two hikes there and had lunch at Sheila C's in Auburn. Delicious burgers!

Later on we made these beautiful salads at home with lettuce and nasturtium blooms grown in our backyard.

Thankful the rain stopped and we were able to get outside ❤️

Braves game with youth group last night.

Bobby informed me that my last message had been up a REALLY long time. That may say something about my age too!

Help wanted:
Looking for a shopping companion.

Must be fun and patient.

Must be willing to repeatedly answer the question, "Does this look like something an old lady would wear? Or is it cute and kind of quirky?"

Must also be willing to say, as often as necessary, "Step away from the chocolate brown clothing. Why not try something in green?"

Must be up to date on what I definitely should not wear, while also being able to tell if something will fit me perfectly just by looking at it on the rack.

I can pay you in handwritten letters or hand knitted scarves (as long as you don't need the scarf anytime soon).

Please send help soon. It's almost summer and I'm in desperate need of a refresh.

We had a lovely anniversary day! First stop, biscuits from Sarajay's, then CSA pick up at Jenny Jack Farm. We visited Wild Animal Safari where Bobby got up close and personal with a water buffalo. After lunch at The Three Little Pigs in Pine Mountain we spent some time at home napping, reading the Word, and working on my car.

Then we were off to dinner at The Depot in Auburn. We had a handwritten anniversary note on our table and complimentary dessert after dinner. All delicious.

But one of the best parts of the day was running into one of my favorite professors from Auburn, Dr. Wayne Flint, over dinner. I got totally fangirl on him - interrupted his dinner, told him he made me love history, then continued to be giddy for AWHILE after talking with him.

I was craving a burger for dinner tonight (or just trying to avoid cooking, one or the other) so I decided to head to Meryl's, my go to "good burger" place in Lanett. But it's Monday, so Meryl's isn't open. Sad.

So at Bobby's suggestion I went instead to Chicken Stop. I ordered 2 burgers and fries then proceeded to wait for 35 minutes. 35 minutes!

Next time I'll call it in. There will be a next time. They were delicious.

What's your favorite burger spot around here?

Bobby and I will celebrate 31 years of being married on May 1st. We recently found this beautiful house where our rehearsal dinner was held.

It's all overgrown and falling down now, but it was once a show place with gleaming hardwood floors and a lawn that went straight into the lake.

Our family and friends gathered here the night before our wedding. We had a wonderful dinner, laughed, talked and told stories. I wish we could all meet out there and do it all over again.

It was a beautiful night and the beginning of a beautiful marriage. It hasn't always been easy. But it has always been worth it. 31 is such a big number and I'm so thankful we made it here.

I don't hate reading books in large print, but it's beginning to make me feel like I'm a woman of "a certain age."
