BUSIA COUNTY REFERRAL HOSPITAL RECEIVES MEDICAL SUPPLIES FROM KEMSA.
Busia County Referral Hospital (BCRH) on Friday received a consignment of drugs, non-pharmaceuticals, and laboratory supplies from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) valued at sh59.8 million for the first quarter.
The County government has committed sh29.4 million for the available supplies from KEMSA. Out of this, the BCRH has received drugs and non-pharmaceutical items worth sh3.6 million, and laboratory supplies worth sh4.1 million respectively.
Other healthcare facilities in the county are expected to receive their supplies starting next week.
Despite the progress, a gap of 49.8% remains due to stock-outs at KEMSA, however, the county government is exploring other avenues to bridge this shortfall and ensure all facilities have enough resources to offer adequate medical services to residents.
The delivery is part of a broader procurement order meant to serve all 92 government health facilities across the county. However, KEMSA was able to deliver 50.2% of the requested supplies.
