Reising “It’s A Bear”
About 12 years ago I was in contact with a elderly man residing in Connecticut who owned this .22 Hartford Arms rifle. Recently, the same CT owned rifle sold on an online auction. I did not bid because my good friend badly wanted it. He promised that one day he would give it to me. These photos are from the auction, additional photos will be posted once received. The Hartford .22 rifle is a pedestrian simply finished bolt action magazine fed rifle. The rifle has some condition issues as follows: missing the magazine, stock sanded, bolt braze welded, abrasive used on barrel, non factory metal butt plate installed, oxidation and blueing loss.Regardless, the Hartford .22 rifle is super rare, this being the only example observed in 30 years of collecting.
Update: I have been told that the receiver is case colored. After removing the stock under the barrel close to the receiver is a hand stamped number 4.
Great for the humor and the collection!
Hartford Model 1925 #4050. I post photos and list serial numbers for studying the transitions and recording survivors.
Reising pistol box with all goodies! Just sold on eBay for over three! If you collect - it was worth it! I would guess that box survivors are less than 5%!
