Queen Nanny of the Maròons.
Born 1686: Ghana 🇬🇭
Dièd 1733/1750: Jamaica
it's said she fòught and frèed over 800 enslaved fòlks on the island of Jamaica. There are many stories about her, it is said she was a queen in Ghana from the warri0r Ashanti tribe when she was càptured and brought to Jamaica where she later escàped and led an àrmed rev0lt against the Britišh Empire in the mountains and juñgles of Jamaica for two decades.

It is said she used güerilla warfare to fight the B.ritish who suffered great l0ss and later settled with a peace treaty to spare their men. She was said to also be a powerful spiritùal priestess who would use her powers to shield her fighters from the attàcks of the Britišh.

One Britišh òfficer who was lucky to sùrvived her encounter described her as being small, muscular and strong with intense eyes. She wore a girdle with at least 10 different combat knivès. Queen Nanny is Jamaica's only female Shero and there are still Maròons living in Jamaica today.

According to Senegalese historian Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop, the ancient name of Africa was Alkebulan, which means "mother of mankind" or "garden of Eden". The name was used by the Moors, Nubians, Ethiopians, and other indigenous people.
The name Africa was given to the continent by the ancient Romans and Greeks. Some experts believe that the name Africa comes from two Phoenician words, "friqi" and "pharika", which translate to "corn" and "fruit".
The word "Africa" came into existence in the late 17th century. Initially, it only referred to the northern part of the continent. Around that time, the continent had been colonized, and the Europeans ruled over its people as slaves. They influenced the change of identity from Alkebulan to its present name.

SENEGALESE President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye promised to REPLACE the French-sponsored currency CFA Franc with the country's new National currency.

▪️During their presidential campaign launch on 10 March, 2024, his coalition party backed by popular firebrand Ousmane Sonko promised to create a new national currency and renegotiate mining and energy contracts.

▪️In his 84-page election platform, Faye said Senegal needs to take back control of its economy.

"Convinced that full independence cannot be achieved without controlling the economy, livestock management, fisheries, and agriculture, we are fully committed to achieving food, digital, fiscal, energy and scientific sovereignty," Faye said.

▪️Though the move would pose another threat to West Africa's CFA franc currency, some junta-led states in the region such as Burkina Faso, Guinea and Mali have also said they might abandon it.

▪️The idea of a new currency is popular among some people in Senegal, who think that the CFA franc, the shared currency inherited from French colonial rule, isn't helping an underdeveloped economy.

▪️The 84-page platform listed a number of measures that would need to be implemented before a new currency could be introduced.

▪️The CFA franc was created as an alternative to the dollar and is used in 14 countries in Central and Western Africa.
