Embracing AI Enhances Learning 🚀

“the study revealed that students are not excessively dependent on ChatGPT. Instead, they are utilizing a variety of AI tools for more engaged and constructive learning.” (Editah Patrick, 2023)

BOOKT VS QLTECH 🔥

Last week Friday, our company went up against QLTech in Formula-K, a high-end short-circuit racing track. The two companies raced hard and fast, with the two CEOs staying neck-in-neck with each other on the track! 🏎️

This was a first-time experience for many members from both companies, but that didn’t stop us from testing the limits and having fun (and mastering the art of drifting)! We can definitely agree that both sides were highly competitive and weren’t afraid to show it, making the day even more exciting. 😎

With QLTech having two previous losses against Bookt (via Airsoft and the Precinct Relay), they brought their A-game to the track - and we proudly congratulate them for winning this round, with their CEO, , taking first place at the race! Well done, QLTech - we look forward to the next one! 😉🏁

Start With Why by Simon Sinek ❔

Simon Sinek launched a movement in 2009 to assist people in being more motivated at work and, in turn, inspiring their coworkers and clients. Since then, countless others have been impacted by the strength of his ideas, including more than 28 million who have watched his TED Talk based on START WITH WHY, the third most watched TED video of all time.

Sinek begins by posing a fundamental query: Why are certain individuals and groups more creative, influential, and successful than others? Why do some people garner more support from both clients and staff? Why are there so few people who can consistently replicate their achievement, even among the successful?

Although Steve Jobs, the Wright Brothers, and Martin Luther King Jr. had few things in common, they all began with WHY. They concluded that until people get the motivations behind a movement, idea, or product, they won't completely buy into it.

The leaders who have made the greatest impact on the world are all shown in START WITH WHY to think, behave, and communicate in the same manner—and it's the antithesis of what everyone else does. This strong concept, which Sinek refers to as The Golden Circle, offers a foundation on which organizations can be established, movements can be led, and individuals can be motivated. And the WHY is where it all begins.

Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson ⚠️

Is it geography, climate, or culture? Maybe a lack of knowledge about what the best policies are?

Simply, no. None of these variables are fixed or predetermined. Otherwise, how can it be explained that while other African countries like Zimbabwe, the Congo, and Sierra Leone are mired in poverty and war, Botswana has had some of the world's fastest growth rates?

James Robinson and Daron Acemoglu convincingly demonstrate that human-made political and economic institutions are the foundation of economic success (or lack thereof).

Using extraordinary historical data from the Roman Empire, Mayan city-states, medieval Venice, the Soviet Union, Latin America, England, Europe, the United States, and Africa, Acemoglu and Robinson construct a new theory of political economy that has significant relevance for the major questions of the day.

Why Nations Fail will change how you look at and understand the world.

The Ladder of Life by Stuart Symington 🪜

Take heart if you've ever questioned whether this existence is truly all it's cracked up to be. This book is intended to pique your curiosity about this topic a little more. To be able to reflect on your life with considerably more happiness and significantly fewer regrets, it is essential to find a higher sense of purpose and contentment.

In retrospect, there are many things that our colleges and universities failed to teach us that we should have learned. The main objective of this book is to provide the reader with some insights into this "secret curriculum" of life—the lessons we must learn the hard way.

We might come across a few loose rungs or perhaps one or two missing ones as we progress up the ladder of life. Sometimes, we might even think our ladder is leaning against the wrong wall. It is both an art and a science to safely climb the ladder of life. The following chapters are written with "the major decisions" in mind—decisions that, if made correctly, can change our lives for the better.

This is the book to read if you want to go right to the point about what really matters in life. Author Stuart Symington outlines his formula for a life worth living in a direct, practical manner.

Noise by Daniel Kahneman, Olivier Sibony and Cass R. Sunstein🧑‍⚖️

Wherever there is human judgement, there is noise.

Imagine if two doctors in the same city diagnose identical patients differently, or that two judges in the same court sentence people who committed the same crime differently. Imagine that the same judge and doctor make different choices based on the time of day, whether it is Monday or Wednesday, or if they have eaten lunch. These variations in judgments that ought to be the same are examples of noise.

In their book Noise, Daniel Kahneman, Olivier Sibony, and Cass R. Sunstein demonstrate how noise causes errors in various sectors, including child protection, forensic science, public health, law, economic forecasting, and recruiting and performance reviews. And while noise is present wherever people are making assessments and decisions, individuals and organizations sometimes downplay its significance at tremendous expense.

Noise examines how and why people are so sensitive to noise and bias in decision-making. It is full of fresh ideas and draws from the same kind of intelligent analysis and depth of case study that made Thinking, Fast and Slow and Nudge international blockbusters. More often than we realize, we all make poor decisions. This ground-breaking book examines what we can do to create better ones with a few straightforward solutions.

Alchemy by Rory Sutherland 🧑‍🔬

Why is Red Bull so popular even though everyone detests the taste? Humans are, to put it simply, irrational; they base their decisions as much on cues from the outside world (like that tiny blue can) as they do on objective attributes (flavour, price, quality). In contrast, the world is absurdly complicated and random. This means that no accounting spreadsheet can be used to project future success. Alchemy, the mysterious science and dark art of creating seductive ideas, is the key to striking gold.

Alchemy, the groundbreaking book by Ogilvy advertising legend Rory Sutherland, whose TED talks have been viewed nearly seven million times, decodes human behavior by fusing cutting-edge scientific research, absurdly entertaining storytelling, profound psychological insight, and practical case studies from his illustrious career. It is based on thirty years of fieldwork inside the largest experiment in human behavior ever conceived—the forever-unfolding pageant of consumer capitalism.

Sutherland, who has been hailed as "the don of modern advertising" by The Times and "one of the leading minds in the world of branding" by NPR, is an unique thought leader who is as at ease exchanging ideas with Nobel Prize winners Richard Thaler and Daniel Kahneman (both of whom were interviewed in these pages), as he is crafting the next product launch. According to his unusual and insatiably curious approach, fascinating insights on human decision-making can be found in unexpected places.

You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero😎

Jen Sincero, a best-selling author, speaker, and internationally renowned success coach uses her book You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life to slice through the self-help genre's clamour with her own verbal meat cleaver.

Sincero offers 27 bite-sized chapters packed with humorously uplifting stories, game-changing ideas, simple exercises, and the occasional curse word in this refreshingly direct how-to book. Sincero takes you on a wild joy ride to your personal transformation through chapters like "Your Brain Is Your Bitch," "Fear Is for Suckers," and "My Subconscious Made Me Do It," assisting you in building the wealth, relationships, profession, and overall awesomeness you so desire.

And if you're one of those folks who worry about being caught holding a self-help book, do not fear. Even the most cynical of people will find that Sincero, a former sceptic herself, delivers the goods without the New Age cheese, giving them just what they need to break out of their ruts and start kicking some ass. By the time you finish with You Are a Badass, you'll know why you are the way you are, how to accept the things you can't change and change the things you don't want to accept, and how to start living the life you used to be envious of.

How To Be Perfect by Michael Schur 😇

A funny, thought-provoking manual for leading an ethical life that draws on 2,400 years of significant philosophical thought from throughout the world comes from the creator of The Good Place and the co-creator of Parks and Recreation.

The majority of individuals consider themselves to be "good." Yet, it's not always simple to tell what is "good" or "bad"—especially in a society full of difficult decisions, traps, pitfalls, and bad counsel. Fortunately, many wise philosophers have debated this problem for ages and have advice for us. How to Be Perfect discusses ideas like deontology, utilitarianism, existentialism, ubuntu, and more with sharp wit and profound insight so we may seem smart at parties and improve as humans.

Schur begins by posing simple ethical dilemmas, such as "Should I strike my friend in the face for no reason?" (No.) and progresses to the toughest moral dilemmas we all deal with. For instance: Can I still appreciate excellent art if the people who made it were horrible? How much money should I donate to charity? When there are no repercussions for doing wrong, why even bother to be good? Pl us a lot more. By the time the book is finished, we will have a complete understanding of how to behave in every imaginable circumstance to achieve the maximum amount of moral good. Our friends will be jealous of us because we will be flawless. Okay, not quite. Instead, we'll gain new, humorous, and encouraging insight into the most challenging problems we encounter every day.
