Great to see so many riders today, and fantastic feedback from you all about the new start/finish venue, Magic Rock showing their appreciation for the last five years of us using their venue by deciding to host their own cycling event today!.
Feel free to share any pictures or videos below.
Onto the 3RT event next week 👍
Not long to go till round 2 at Drighlington, the infamous flat one.
Upping the mileage, it’s a great route to get the legs going that extra distance, weather looking favourable too 👍
Well the first Ride to the Sun ride got off to a great start with 73 riders braving the weather to complete “Dicko’s Ride” the first group back were Seth Jackson KCA and Oscar Saxton HSW and 3 other young riders all chaperoned by Richard Middleton and quickly followed by Kellett and Fothers..
Thanks to all taking part and especially to Nick Dorsey - Tom Randal & Craig Mac for help with signing on and Matt Wainwright and Majorie for all the help with the refreshments.
Drighlington next week, Fast and Furious, enjoy..
How awesome is this?
Evie, one of the recipients of the money from the series last year, racing for GB in team one for the team pursuit in Apeldoorn this evening -comfortably winning gold, beating the French world champions in both the heat and final!
Only a week to go before the first event of the RTTS.
Dicko’s ride is always great start with a steady route and some quiet lanes.
Can’t wait to see everyone there.
Just a little reminder of where some of the money from the RTTS series has gone.
2017 Jamie Ridehalge and Harry Hardcastle were recipients who both went to France to race for the summer.
2018 Drig donated the money to Yorkshire Air Ambulance after one of their riders had needed their help the year before.
2019 Imps, choose to support Amy Cowton, who used the money to head abroad to Belgium to race for the season
2021 3RT, choose to support Mason Hollyman, again racing abroad and now riding with Israel Premiertech.
2022 Star Wheelers chose to support Calum Wilson buy an adaptive bike so he could get back into cycling after loosing his arm.
2023 Dicko’s Ride chose to support three riders with Oscar Saxton, Rowan Baxter and Evie Smith all received money to help them race national series events around the country.

CycleGranada getting set for the winter.
After their fantastic contribution to the series this year here hoping it’s a great success for them 👍
A great race report from Evie who raced a round of the national crit series last weekend 👍
Last weekend I raced at Loughborough National crit. Did course recce and I knew that there was a short steep hill and a technical descent. It was a fast, hard start and I got in the leading group and comfortably sat in. About half way through the hour race there was an unexpected stop whilst someone received medical attention from the ambulance. We had a 10minute break and straight back into a fast paced race. I was in the main bunch until the finish where I was postioned well until the second to last corner where the was lots of jostling for the race line. I came 5th over the line after a hard race in the heat. I was pleased with my climbing however had hoped for a better finish.
Thank you to Ride to the Sun for my support 👍
A great little write up here from Rowan.
Great to see the money from the series being put to good use helping folk race 🙌
Last weekend I competed against the best junior riders in the country at the Yorkshire Classic National Road Race. It was my longest race to date at 122km. Because of exams I’ve not been able to train too much recently and about 40km into the race my legs were hurting and I thought I was going to get dropped from the main bunch when all the attacks started. I managed to hold on though and began to feel stronger after 90km. I wasn’t able to do much in the sprint finish as I was blocked in even though I felt I had a little more to give. I came 33rd out of 80 but I was only a few seconds off the top 20. I also managed to get a new top speed of 98kmh!
Thanks to the support of the Huddersfield Star Wheelers, the Doreen Miller Fund and Ride to the sun.
