Patient at the end of doctor's consultation: Dr, any diet restrictions to be followed?

Doctor doesn't want the patient to feel as if it was an incomplete consultation, will say one or two things (which might add on to more confusion as to what has been said by hear say, or would put blanket restrictions on food items like milk, gluten, dals pulses, etc)

So why does the doctor do so?

Nutrition is a minuscule fragment of the entire medical curicullum!

Unless a doctor has keen interest in a subject called or while doing doing in etc, (or if the doctor personally develops a keen interest in either during academics or later in practical life), most often nutrition is left out of learning syllabus

And rightly so. When their main career is in medicine or surgery, why would anyone put in efforts to study that, knowing very well that there are well qualified and who have studied for a whole long period of 3/ 5/ 7 years while doing their graduation post-graduation or a PhD

If you ask about certain 💊 (effectiveness, dose, timings, etc) to a dietitian, a will always request you to consult with the doctor who has prescribed it after a detailed clinical analysis of your clinical condition

Likewise, rather than asking related questions to a , it would be prudent to reserve those for a who along with a detailed knowledge about nutrition, also has an indepth knowledge about etc

Gluten is often villianized and thanks to social media- A lot of people have started going gluten free to lose weight. We just wanted to highlight that going gluten free may not be your weight loss solution. Only a qualified dietitian can help you understand your body and it's needs better.

A gluten free diet is typically recommended for any of the following conditions.

1. Celiac disease- An auto immune condition which results in immune reaction to eating gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley and rye.

2. Wheat allergy - It is an allergic reaction to foods containing wheat. Allergic reactions can be caused by eating wheat and also, in some cases, by inhaling wheat flour.

3. Duhring disease - A rare, chronic condition, which results in very itchy skin rash made up of bumps and blisters.

4.Non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) - It is a condition characterized by intestinal and extra-intestinal symptoms related to the ingestion of gluten-containing foods in the absence of celiac disease and wheat allergy.

So don't go blindly gluten free. Evaluate with a if you require it.

From verbal and written to being gadget savvy and digital technology, we have come a long way

We have a huge global transition and have evolved with a huge shift in food technology too...

Covid has once again proved that if roots are strong, so will be THE FOUNDATION of our health

With migrants and many going back to their roots, it is time for us to go back and GoLocal and BeVocal about it and eat Home made food .

We need to rebring the glory and popularity of our traditional healthy diets and foods with the use of current social media, technology and nutritional information from qualified dietitian--- To propagate the right nutrition knowledge among the masses

One of the core objectives of team has been to educate consumers about quacks and make sure they are not putting their lives in wrong hands.

Here are five signs to identify quacks:

1. Many quack dietitians (Quacktitians) will have fancy designations without even possessing a full time nutrition degree. For e.g. Anti-ageing nutrition expert – give us a break! Aging is natural and let’s accept it!

2. Quacktitians make sensational statements about food- For e.g. Gluten causes weight gain and bloating. A qualified dietician will never tell you that.

3. Quacktitians are always trying to sell you something and charge a premium fee to consult. When you are out from a quack clinic – your diet sheet has more supplements than food and your pockets empty!

4. Quacktitians can never give you references – There is absolutely no evidence to the unequivocal statements they make – just talk confidently!

5. Quacktitians are more visible in the media with varying designations in every channel to suit the talk. Thanks to the PR they invest heavily in. A qualified dietician would work sincerely and let her work do the talk!

So just to ensure you are consulting the right person - just ask one simple question – What’s your qualification?

We would like to know from you if there are any other signs to identify quacks from your end!

This article is not sufficient to express how proud we home scientists' feel. 😍 we have learnt a lot more than described here or prescribed in our syllabus. In this mechanical world, we come as a soft human touch for ourselves, our family, our society. It is one of the basic components needed for one's living.
It is not just a subject, it is a lifeskill that everyone needs to attain.
And without any doubt home scientists definitely have an upper hand when it comes to "dealing with day to day life."

Recommedations from .

1️⃣ yourself from news about the virus. (Everything we need to know, we already know).

2️⃣ 't look out for death toll. It's not a cricket match to know the latest score. Avoid that.

3️⃣ 't look for additional information on the Internet, it would weaken your mental state.

4️⃣ sending fatalistic messages. Some people don't have the same mental strength as you (Instead of helping, you could activate pathologies such as depression).

5️⃣ to music at home or do the karaoke or play antakshri. Play board games with children, sketch with them or read a book for them

6️⃣ discipline in the home by washing your hands, putting up a sign or alarm for everyone in the house. Follow protocols of sanitization and washing of fruits and vegetables

7️⃣ positive mood will help protect your immune system, while negative thoughts have been shown to depress your immune system and make it weak against viruses.

8️⃣ important, firmly believe that this shall also pass and we will be safe.... !

Don’t we all have stories of our own interactions with ‘Google Dietitian’s ?

While it is good to be informed, it can prove fatal to diagnose & attempt to turn into self studied

Ask questions, share information that you find interesting, clarify doubts but don’t self diagnose & plan diets for yourself or your loved ones.
