Bought a new private meter (the old one was circa 1972 gears and wheels and frozen solid). I just installed it today and it it works perfectly. The other meter is owned by GMP and tells me what the house uses after the hydro is added to the household usage and the the overage is sent back out to the grid (the $$ meter). What THIS meter does is give me a pure reading on KWH generated BEFORE the power goes into the house and out to the grid.

PureSource Power LLC operates a private hydro-electric production site in Newbury, Vermont.

A dam has been situated in the natural rock channel continuously since the early 1800's. Our current operation is generating power from a 16 foot diameter steel overshot waterwheel, a system that is in need of an upgrade.

The power we produce is "run of river," meaning that we put back into the water stream everything we take out of it - with virtually no environmental impact. Our green power is grid-tied to Vermont's largest utility.

One kilowatt hour (KwH) of hydro-generated elctricity offsets 1.13 pounds of carbon.(1) During an average month, PureSource Power offsets 3,250 pounds of carbon in green electricity production!

Our goal is to provide local customers with electricity that has no carbon impact. We participate in Vermont's efforts to provide the majority of the state's energy needs from renewable resources by 2050.
