The WCEC Ann Cohen Entrepreneurship Fund
This fund has been established in memory of Ann Cohen, a successful Montclair, New Jersey business owner who also served selflessly as a mentor to many.
The WCEC Ann Cohen Entrepreneurship Fund was established in memory of Ann Cohen (1940-2017), a successful Montclair, New Jersey business owner who served selflessly as a mentor to many of her employees and others with entrepreneurial aspirations. The Fund was created by Ann's family - Noal Cohen, Claire Cohen, Davina A., Ruth Nasrullah and Mohammed Nasrullah - and is administered by the Women’s Ce
It’s that time of year again, and despite limitations imposed by COVID-19, The WCEC Ann Cohen Entrepreneurship Fund has now helped 61 women entrepreneurs and raised over $25,000 from 2018 to 2022 (please see attachment for details).
Please use the following link to view a short video from last year’s graduation. It has testimonials about both the GrowthVenture course and also the scholarship: https://youtu.be/57OdVUHcySs
We hope you will be motivated to donate to this program so that we can continue to honor Ann's lasting legacy of supporting women entrepreneurs. The current economic and political turmoil that we are experiencing will certainly continue in 2023 and the assistance that WCEC provides to small business owners is more important than ever.

Ann passed away 5 years ago. Please consider remembering her by making a contribution to her fund. Here's a photo of her from 2012 in one of her favorite places, Port Townsend, WA.
Three classes of business owners have now benefited from the WCEC Ann Cohen Entrepreneurship Fund and over $14,000 in donated funds has allowed 35 women to take courses and get counseling through WCEC in 2018, 2019 and 2020. All of the recipients will undoubtedly be successful in their business endeavors and were extremely grateful for the assistance the fund provided. Because of COVID-19, the class of 2020 held their graduation program virtually on May 14, 2020 and the presentations, like those in previous years, demonstrated creative marketing concepts and thoughtful business planning. Each graduating class reinforces our conviction that we have chosen the ideal way to perpetuate Ann's memory.
Our family hopes to continue this financial assistance annually and we are reaching out to all of you again to help us raise funds for a fourth group of budding entrepreneurs in 2021. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift to the fund through the WCEC website. To do this, go to the following address and under “Sponsorship Opportunities,” select the first option, THE WCEC ANN COHEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP FUND. The contribution can be kept anonymous if you prefer. Today is Ann Cohen's 79th birthday anniversary. On May 23, the second WCEC Growth Venture class graduated at an event held in West Orange, NJ sponsored by PNC Bank. Nearly all of the graduates were beneficiaries of the Ann Cohen Entrepreneurship Fund and expressed their gratitude for the financial assistance the fund provided. As was the case in 2018, all of the graduate presentations exhibited innovation, creativity and enthusiasm and the Cohen family wishes them well with their businesses going forward. Here is a group photo from last Thursday's event:
February 3, 2019 marks two years since the passing of Ann Cohen. Her family, friends, colleagues and customers all miss her very much and remember the important contributions she made to the downtown business district of Montclair, NJ. Toys in the Attic, the retail toy store that she and Sonia Moran established in 1984, quickly became a popular destination for shoppers throughout Northern New Jersey.
On this occasion, we encourage you to like this page and to contribute to The WCEC Ann Cohen Entrepreneurship Fund which can be done at http://www.wcecnj.org/donations.aspx.
