Plate Spinners
Plate spinners is a space for community, connection and conversation. It’s a space for you.
What do I mean by parenting confidence? Well I mean doing what works for your family regardless of what that looks like to others. The confidence to make decisions on what will work for you all rather than what you 'see' or hear. Making choices for your family that help you achieve what you all want or need.
My biggest parenting confidence boost came when I stopped looked at other people reactions to my parenting in public. I had 4 kids under 5 (two sets of twins) and so the probability of one of them having a reaction to something when we were out was very high so I just stopped looking at people to notice what they thought and instead focused on how I felt the situation should be handled. I still felt conscious but chose to believe people were looking as they were impressed.😏join in the conversation and share your biggest parenting confidence boost! Sharing these moment helps other people in our community and helps to cement that no one has everything together, no one is 100% sure of their decisions, we're just all doing our best. Let us know in the comments.
As busy working parents it’s very easy to ignore our own health so here are 3 ways you can take care of your health, click the save button so you don’t forget.
1.Book the appointments!!! - don’t put things off, how often do you think oh I’ll do that tomorrow/ next week etc, you wouldn’t do that for the kids would you?
2.Commit to some exercise - so you don’t go to the gym? Who cares? Fitting in additional exercise into ordinary everyday activities has a much greater impact so take the stairs, go a for a lunchtime walk, whatever works for you.
3.Buy and eat the nice fruit - you know, the stuff you ear mark for the kids! Chop it in fancy shapes or make the vegetable side dish that no one will eat except you, invest in yourself, you deserve it.
What will you do for your health today?
Hello Monday! Before you start your week take a few moments to check how your spinning plates are doing. It's tempting to dive straight into the week and start working on the tasks that need doing. Happy Friday! This weeks hive mind is to 'share a book recommendation that has changed your outlook or perspective'. We can't wait to hear your answers, everyone loves a book recommendation!
Another good life project recommendation. It is slightly terrifying when we consider the impact technology has on our lives, in this episode we hear all about the impacts but also the solutions. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/how-to-regain-focus-attention-gloria-mark-phd/id647826736?i=1000611679575
Networking can be really tough but there are so many benefits to increasing your network. Maybe try to think of networking as an opportunity to build relationships rather than a place where you need to sell yourself and have instantly profitable exchanges. Instead try creating meaningful interactions by being confident and authentic as they are much more likely to lead to a longer term profitable relationship. The 4th tip is to practice, the more you do the more you will feel confident, so get out there and book some in.
Whilst the monthly sessions we run are all about you focusing on your life juggle they are also a fantastic opportunity to network, remember, you don’t have to be a business to network! Why not look at our other posts all about networking and the benefits of building a community.
Hello Friday! How is everyone? In the spirit of it being half term in many places this week and some people having to interrupt normal programming as a consequence, we thought a great question to ask was "what's your focus next week?" What is it that you are going to give your energy to in a concerted way? What will make you feel more organised? Is there a particular plate you are spinning that is wobbling? Do you need to remove a plate as it no longer serves you? Applying dedicated focus to one element will bring you greater results...so what's your focus? Tell us is the comments and create some accountability for yourself.

Firstly, how is it Friday again! This week on The Friday Hive Mind we're asking, what things you are grateful for. I find there are things which come to mind immediately and then there are things that reveal themselves after a bit of reflection, so let us know in the comments below.

Plate Spinners is a space for community, connection and conversation. We hold monthly groups online (and some face to face) which are places to reflect, talk to others in similar situations as well a facilitated activity and some guided coaching. Follow along to find out more about us.
Hello! We’ve been busy in the background working on our next event and spinning other plates, May has been a busy month! Thank you to everyone who took the time to give us feedback, it was very helpful and has led to us changing the event to online. The format remains the same with facilitated activities focused on self reflection and action. The ticket price will now include a workbook that you’ll be able to use during the session but will also contain further learning for you to explore. The feedback also told us that face to face session with a bit of a social tacked on would be a welcome option which we’ll be holding in July. More information about the next session will be coming out soon, we hope to see you all there.
Networking can be very intimidating but it doesn't have to be this way. Having a strong support system (outside of family or friends) can be such a powerful tool. Here are 3 reasons to consider, next week we'll look how to make a start building a network.
I could talk for hours about the mental load yet I've never quite found a solution. Here two mums explore what the mental load means, how it came about and what we can do to fix it. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-mental-load/id1684811178
One of the major reasons we formed Plate Spinners was to create a community of people who can share ideas, learn from each other and create bonds with each other. Here are 5 ways we hope being part of our community will benefit your personal journey.
Happy FriYAY! Is everyone looking forward to the extra bank holiday? This week's question is all about change and its impact on our life. When thinking about the change please don't ignore even the tiniest of changes, sometimes they are the most powerful.
This week,on self care Thursday (it's not a thing) we are talking all things consistency and how to introduce self care into your life. We hope you find some of these ideas useful - which one speaks to you? Number 4 has worked for really worked for me in the past and not just with self care.
Here are the results from last week's Hive Mind. The results were a really interesting split between living more in the moment and working towards a goal. Have a read and let us know what you think.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended yesterday's workshop, we had fun and hopeful everyone went away with a greater understanding of their own juggle and spinning plates!
How to fail is a lovely podcast based on the book by Elizabeth Day, full of interviewees discussing, with hind sight, how points of failure actually turned out. I love this particular episode because I love Self Esteem and her music, listening to her interview gives a new spin to her lyrics. girl
