Patipada Dhamma

Patipada Dhamma

Patipada is the "Middle way" (majjhima-paṭipadā) taught by the Buddha. “Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.

Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees

Suffering is a fact of life. There are four unavoidable physical sufferings - birth, old age, sickness and death. There are also three forms of mental suffering separation from the people one loves, contact with people one dislikes and the frustration of desires. The truth of suffering must first be recognised before the solution to the real problems of life can be found.
