Who is Jeremy Carnall?
Jeremy Carnall is Music director of Dorset Opera and Kapellmeister at Leipzig Oper and was previously 1st Kapellmeister in St Gallen, Switzerland. He was born in Norwich in England and studied the cello at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College, gaining the Diane Bolton prize for cello.
Jeremy Carnall studied orchestral conducting at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Jac van Steen, Kenneth Montgomery and Jose Esandi. In 2003 he worked as an assistant conductor with the Nationale Reisopera working on 9 productions (Arianna in Creta, Der Prinz von Homburg, Rake's Progress, Luisa Miller, Peter Grimes, Turn of the Screw, Thyeste, Manon and Entführung aus dem Serail. This led to his debut at Scottish opera in 2008 in The Serglio a co production with the Nationale Reisopera.
On his graduation he was asked also to conduct several productions with The New Opera Academy in Amsterdam (La Vie Parisienne, Gianni Schicchi and Dido and Aeneas).
