Joe Tanner for County Commissioner

Joe Tanner for County Commissioner
03/01/2013

To all my friends who wished me a happy birthday today: Thank you ever so much. I am spending my birthday in the location I would choose if I had the entire World to choose from - my Son's home in Nederland, Colorado. Sharyn is cooking chicken & dumplings for us tonight, and tomorrow night a friend who owns the best restaurant in town, and is from New Orleans, is cooking shrimp gumbo. So, for a boy from a small town in east Texas, that is about as good as it gets.

Friends and family is truly what life is all about (that and my Harley Davidson), and I am blessed in abundance with wonderful friends and a precious family. You each add greatly to my life, and I thank you for your friendship.

Best wishes

The race is very close at this point, with me only 2,300 votes behind my opponent and tens of thousands of ballots left to be counted. At this point it is too close to call, until we see the next set of returns tomorrow.

Make sure your vote is counted. If you haven't voted yet, it is recommended you take your ballot to one of the many drop box locations throughout Clark County. Here is the list from the Elections Office of locations. Chances are an elementary school or community center in your neighborhood has a drop box for your convenience.

The big day is finally here! I can't thank each and everyone of you enough for your support. Today I'll be taking and making calls to answer questions and get out the vote. Tonight I will be at Gaiser Hall after getting the results with my family and my campaign team. From there I will be heading to the Quay to thank supporters, volunteers, and my family. I'll be posting the result tonight as soon as it is available right here.

Sign waving on I-5 this afternoon and tonight. Terrific response: hundreds of honks, more waves by far than honks, 4 thumbs down, 2 middle fingers, and one person picking their nose (may have been another middle finger). We loved and appreciated the overwhelmingly positive response!

As of right now 100,216 have been returned to the elections office. If you haven't already be sure to get your ballot post-marked by November 6th. My team and I are calling voters around the clock to Get Out The Vote. The earlier you, your neighbors, friends, and co-workers vote, the better we are able to target infrequent voters. I hope you will take the time to encourage someone you know to get their ballot in today!

If you would like to volunteer in the last days of the campaign please call our field director Rob Sellers at 425-457-6906.

An afternoon of sign waving in the rain. There were 372 honks, waves, thumbs up and other positive signs; 3 thumbs down, and one "Joe Tanner sucks." I like that count!

Both Tom Mielke and Don Benton came by in their trucks, and we said hello to one another.
