It’s time to leave behind that stress and start taking control of your money! Stay tuned for some ways you can start getting your life in order today:

Take inventory: It is time to gather all your bills together and figure out what you own and what you owe. It may not seem like it but facing those bills head on is the best thing you can do to start relieving your stress.

Make a Budget… and stick to it! First, write down your income, then your expenses. Now, subtract your expenses from your income until it equals zero! Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you have nothing in the bank. It just means you’ve given every single pound a purpose and a job to do.

Pay of all your debt:

Step 1: List your debts smallest to largest, regardless of interest rate. Pay minimum payments on everything but the little one.

Step 2: Attack the smallest debt with everything you’ve got. Once that debt is gone, take that payment (and any extra money you can squeeze out of the budget) and apply it to the second-smallest debt while continuing to make minimum payments on the rest.

Step 3: Once that debt is gone, take its payment, and apply it to the next-smallest debt. The more you pay off, the more your freed-up money grows and gets thrown onto the next debt—like a snowball rolling downhill.

It’s worth mentioning: If you’re in the middle of any kind of emergency (like a job loss, major home repairs or a medical crisis), things may need to look a little different.

Practice Gratitude: If you want to get rid of financial stress, you’ve got to do things differently than the way you’re doing things right now. And it all starts with addressing your urge to buy things just because you want them.

Learn what triggers your wants and start limiting your exposure to that thing. If waking up and scrolling through social media is a habit that leads you to your next purchase, it might be time to take a break.

When we talk about women and wealth the conversation tends to be about one particular theme – yet it’s not the full picture.

It’s well established that women face barriers when it comes to gaining financial parity with men, given gender inequality in pay, the workplace, pensions and other areas. It’s a challenge that has been made harder by the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic, which have had a disproportionate impact on women.

However, we also know that women are gaining financial power at a faster rate than any other group and their assets are growing rapidly.

The wealth held by women is expected to grow to $93 trillion1 by 2023, up from $77 trillion in early 2020.2 Currently, about a third of the world’s wealth is in the hands of women.1 Catalyst.org estimates that 67% of all UK household consumption is controlled or influenced by women and this figure rises even higher when you break it down by types of purchases such as cars, holidays and homes.3

The WealthiHer Report also measured men’s and women’s confidence, especially when it comes to financial matters. It found that just 39% of women in the UK consider themselves ‘above average’ when it comes to everyday financial confidence, compared with 57% of their male counterparts. This extends to long-term investing, too, with women twice as likely as men to rate themselves as having low confidence.

It’s never too late to start and to start to learn how your money can translate into something meaningful for you and how you live your life, whatever your goals and aspirations.

It can be no surprise that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on many individuals in the UK. Some have suffered the negative effects of COVID such as loss, sickness, and unemployment which has resulted in negative consequences for their financial situation.

According to the survey, around 6.29m UK adults have experienced adverse credit in the last three years but during the pandemic it seems these people have been hit hardest financially. In the last three years, the most common cause for adverse credit was a missed credit card payment (9%) followed by a default caused by multiple missed payments (4%). With more and more specialist lenders in the market, these common issues are not always detrimental when trying to obtain a mortgage – but it will, of course, depend on a number of factors around those payments. However, it is time to give more confidence to clients who feel as though they won’t be able to get a mortgage with these common credit issues as there are now a wide range of lenders willing to help. There are many misconceptions by clients with adverse credit as so many believe it will lead to a decline when applying, but the research shows that only 6% of those who experienced adverse credit in the last three years had a decline when applying for a mortgage. A significant perception gap remains, between the number of people who believe that adverse credit will result in a declined mortgage application and the number of people for whom this has actually been the case.

It is important that you are provided the right advice and I am here to help. I can help you get on the property ladder by helping you build your credit profile or conduct research to help find a suitable specialist lender.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you feel that your credit has been impacted and your unsure as to whether you are able to get a mortgage.
