Jon and Caroline: my one singular couple who held out for 2020. As you can tell from the silence on my feed, its been quite a while since my last shoot. In fact it’s been almost a year since I last photographed a wedding and since January that I had picked up my cameras. I was worried I’d be rusty, or not be able to get into a groove. But it was, as they say, like riding a bike. Caroline and Jon were naturals, rolling with the punches of 2020 and making it work in a way that was true and honest for them. NGL it’s been nice taking a break from the craziness of weddings this year, but I was truly thrilled to see Jon and Caroline and was so happy to pick up my gear for them. Was so nervous to get back to Duluth and breeze through their files...but as I scanned through their images I couldn’t help but smile and give myself a little pat on the back. What can I say. A bitch still got it 🖤

Amy Kelly is a gift to us all. She’s the kind of friend that makes me feel special and loved every time I talk to her or see her. She’s curious about you. She truly listens. She shares her vulnerability. She’s a 100% grade A authentic human person. I love her so much. Im so glad she asked me to photograph her and Tim yesterday, on a most perfect blustery, moody New England day. The world needs more friends like Amy Kelly 🖤

Just a quick check in to say thank you to all of my amazing couples who are bearing with me during the always busiest time of year. I’ve said before and I’ll say again one of the greatest pieces of advice I’ve been given is this: it’s when you are busiest that you actually have to slow down the most. It seems counterintuitive, but it’s true. My clients and my couples deserve a rested, inspired, motivated photographer, not a burnt out, tired, resentful one. So this time of year galleries may be taking a little longer than usual, but it’s because you deserve my time, you deserve me working on your photos slowly rather than rushing through them. You deserve me having clear work life boundaries that allows me to view your photos with clear eyes and excitement. So for those of you who are being so patient and understanding with your photographer right now, thank you so much for recognizing our humanity and being patient with us. I love what I do and it’s an honor to have your trust. Those of you waiting for galleries and emails, stay with me. Your names are on lists, on my calendars, and I’m thinking about you, I promise 🖤 now with that being said, I’m excited this week to share another image from one of my Minnesota adventure sessions with Niki and Cam!! I would have loved to dive into all of these right away in sept but I have to respect the queue and work on each shoot one at a time!! Was so excited to finally get these done and delivered to this amazing couple over the weekend and so excited to finally share more from this magical day along on Lake Superior 🖤

She was a colllddd one yesterday out at Harrington Farm but I could not have asked for a better way to close out the year than with Ashley and Dan! Not to mention teaming up again with my old friend DJ T-Rex on the ones and twos. Thanks so much to Ashley and Dan for braving the cold and thanks everyone for an amazing 2019 wedding season! 🖤🖤🖤

These two New Orleanians brought their whole crew up from Louisiana and Texas for a destination Salem wedding! They got the business with an idyllic crisp fall day in Salem for a moody, dreamy, spooky romantic and intimate New England wedding. Love these two and their amazing friends and family so much. Thanks Michelle and Josh! 🖤

That feeling of waking up on a Saturday morning for the first time in two months with no shoots, meetings, travel, or really any obligations of any kind. Plenty of work to do, lots of weddings to edit, but I’m giving myself this morning to drink my coffee, house hunt for a new place in Duluth, and reflect back on the wild ride that has been the last 8 weeks. Three weeks ago I was perched on top of a waterfall in Grand Marais Minnesota photographing Gerryanne and Adam. It feels like forever ago and just yesterday. This creative professional life is a wild ride, with extreme highs and extreme lows. Mornings like these of quiet rest and reflection after a busy season of travel and work are what it’s all about 🖤

Phew!!! Woke up this morning after a crazy storm in Salem overnight! Trees are down everywhere, boats are beached at Derby Wharf and the wind is still howling! Salem is magical but she’s also wild and unpredictable. Luckily Ingrid and Shannon got the magic night in Salem on Monday, with a cozy walk through glowing trees and crunchy leaves. There’s nothing like Salem in the fall 🖤

It’s weird how a week ago can feel like both forever ago and also feel like it was yesterday. Minnesota feels like both another planet and also so close to me. I’m back to the grind here in Salem this week, but a piece of my heart is waiting for me back in the North Woods 🖤

Timeline Photos 02/10/2019

These two know how to do it. An afternoon stroll through their favorite little waterfall section of the followed by polka music and beer at This is a lifestyle I can get behind. Thanks Gerryanne and Adam for showing me your favorite little sneaky spots! 🖤

I’m settled back in Salem today and slowly reacclimating to real life. The past week was an adventure beyond what I had even imagined. Camping alone for the first time on the rocky cliffs of Lake Superior; venturing up the Gunflint Tail north into the deep woods of the boundary waters to stay in a bunk house and drink coffee while watching the morning fog roll across Poplar Lake. The landscape, the crisp chill air, the colors, the food (you guys, the food...) the roads, and the most amazing, warm, loving people who welcomed me to their land and their towns with open arms. My heart is feeling very full and grateful today. Until next time, Minnesota 🖤

Timeline Photos 29/09/2019

The way people enjoy nature here is, to say the least, refreshing. Nature is abundant and accessible. Everyone seems to have a shared affinity for these magical north woods, acknowledged with what feels like a knowing little smile as we pass each other on the trail. No one is racing. Or keeping time. Or keeping score. The trails meander and we trust. The air is cool and clean and fills your lungs and heart with energy. It’s easy to feel grateful and joyful and fully at peace in these great north woods. 🖤

Timeline Photos 28/09/2019

And then I met up with Gerryanne and Adam at a wayside off highway 61; we ran across the road and they took me for a hike up to their favorite waterfall. A quiet, private little fairyland, tucked back into Northwoods of Superior National Forest. My heart belongs to this land and these people 🖤
