Babru – an international Kannada film made in the US, has a lot of buzz going for it.

When a film’s teaser is launched by the popular Kannada actor, Raksh*t Shetty and the trailer is released by one of the biggest stars, Yash Gowda (K.G.F Chapter-1), then there has to be some substance in the product.
Babru is the first Kannada feature film to be entirely shot in the US. Directed by Sujay Ramaih,Babru marks the comeback of Sandalwood’s Beladingala Baale (Moonlight Girl), Suman Nagarkar.
Babru is also the first ever Indian film to have an exclusive premiere in the US before its release,with 8 sold out shows. The film will release worldwide on Dec 6, 2019.
Babru is the story of two strangers (played by Suman Nagarkar and Mahi Hiremath) traveling from San Diego to Canada in a rental car. The car’s license plate is Babru. Along the journey, lots of twists and turns happen, which will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.
Sunny Moza, who’s a popular Radio Jockey and America’s Best Desi MC, plays the menacing antagonist, Federico.
The premiere was held at Cine Lounge, Fremont, on Nov 1, 2019 - a day which is important to all Kannadigas around the world - Kannada Rajyotsava (Karnataka Formation Day). The screenings were attended by hundreds of people, who were the first ones to watch the film and provide their feedback. Popular singer Vijay Prakash, who has rendered his voice for a song, and his wife Mahathi Vijayprakash also came during the private screening of the movie. After the screenings, the audience had a meet and greet with the cast and crew of the film, as well as with the car (Babru) itself.
With audience comments like ‘twists and turns kept us engaged’ ‘superb cinematography’ ‘movie delivered beyond my imagination’, the hard work behind Babru is getting appreciated.
Another highlight of the movie is the music by Poornachandra Tejaswi. Background score takes the stunning visuals to the next level and keeps the story moving forward.
