State Representative Jim Weidner

State Representative Jim Weidner
29/03/2011

With a cup of coffee, I am getting ready to carry two bills this morning. HB 3334 will remove the mandate that currently requires a bakery to artificially enrich whole grain bread. The second bill, HCR 19 commemorates the collaborative leadership of President Ronald Reagan by enacting that Feb.6th 2011 is "Ronald Reagan Day". This bill gave me the honor to work with an amazing High School senior named Dylan Zook!

Six rural Oregon counties see unemployment rise above 15 percent in September

This article is just the tip of the iceberg. We're paying debt service on money Oregon legislators borrowed to create jobs that didn't last. I voted no on that spending. This type of "leadership" is hurting our counties.

oregonlive.com In all, six rural counties registered September jobless rates exceeding 15 percent, seasonally adjusted.

Oregon ranks 43rd in the nation for quality outcomes. I believe our students deserve better. I will continue to fight for PRIORITY funding for our schools. Education must not be constantly put in limbo by our legislature.

State’s fiscal situation is dire, getting worse

Our state's financial situation isn't going to get better by voting for people who want to continually increase your taxes. This is a great editorial by Allen Alley and Dennis Richardson.

Our children deserve to be a priority. That is why I voted NO on education cuts for K-12 education. If you're a parent, please tell your friends that I support your right to choose the best education for your children and support priority funding. The difference is clear.

Weidner: A man with a mission - NewsRegister.com

Thank you Hannah Hoffman for spending the day with me and for your article. I will continue to stand on principle, even if some believe that it's a weakness, I believe it's a strength.

newsregister.com By Starla Pointer The man with tattoos looms large in the doorway, towering over state Rep. Jim Weidner. Weidner isn't a small man himself. But he looks like one next to this constituent, who stands several inches taller. He's heavily muscled, but it's tired muscle, sagging a bit at the waist and un...

Here in lies the problem, we spend 60% more than Colorado and yet we have schools in worse shape, roads in bad shape and continual growing government. A vote for me represents fiscal responsibility, not more of the same.

Borrow more money from the Federal Government

I am honored to receive another endorsement. This time from the Tax Payer Defense Fund of Oregon. We must get spending under control in Oregon. This is a clear difference between me and my opponent.

enews.taxpayerdefenseproject.com At a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting, candidate Susan Sokol Blosser (D) stated that one of her ideas for fixing Oregon's budget crisis was to "...Leverage the Federal Government and look at them as a resource for funding for Oregon."

House Democrats say Matt Wand cut police, voted for slush fund

FuturePAC is also sending out lies about me and my campaign. Do they have any regard for the truth? Apparently not.

politifact.com At PolitiFact Oregon, nothing gets our pulse racing quite like the words "slush fund." We know that few things make voters angrier than personal expense accounts on the taxpayer dime. So we had to check it out when we spotted a recent campaign mailer that said this: "Matt Wand cut the police force w...

Word spreads about Oregon’s tax problem – Oregon Business News

Oregon has a serious problem, it's a tax problem. My opponent support higher taxes, higher fees and more government intervention in business and in your life.
This article clearly states that we have a TAX problem. When you vote, remember where I stand : NO NEW TAXES!

oregonbusinessreport.com There are a lot of good things happening in Oregon, but recently we have been making news for all the wrong reasons. Forbes Magazine ran an article on capital gains state tax rates and the chart featured Oregon as having the highest capital gains tax rate in the nation. Such articles act as nega...

Oregon budget woes may fall on state workers | statesmanjournal.com | Statesman Journal

This article articulates the numerous reasons for PERS reform. We cannot sustain the growth of government on the backs of business. Private sector cannot always pick up the tab when we depend on them for employment opportunities!

statesmanjournal.com I really love living in Oregon, and I think we enjoy a pretty sweet quality of life compared to other places I've lived.
